Love my Mac and a number of spin off items and the ipad looks fun but I think it'll get better. A few reviews on some "cons" comments do have some valid points a few being:
- no multitasking
- no HDMI out
- no camera
- need adaptors (even for the USB)
- it's not widescreen
and lastly I agree the name could be better.

Next generation ..... but I'd love to see/use someone else's when they get one.

I thought it was more like the iTouch. I don't think you can make phone calls with it? Tablet PCs aren't really my cup of tea. I like what I can do with my phone and then I need a computer. I'm pretty sure companies have done such a good job with cell phone functionality and laptops/netbooks that tablets will never really take off like they'd hope. But, if anyone could pull it off, Apple could.

It's not even a big iPhone...it's a big iPod Touch.

I'm underimpressed but have faith in subsequent releases. I was holding off on a netbook until this came out just in case but now it's clear - I'm getting a netbook and installing the Mac OS onto it.

Eh wasn't too impressed with my ipod touch. Except for watching movies on a plane and battery never lasted. Had it for 2 years and recently went back to the new nano with the camera. Fits so much better in pocket while kiting. The video quality is insane. Too bad it doesn't take photos too . Never was a fan of the iphone. I just like a good old fashion qwerty board. I am pretty impressed with my G1 android phone for the past year. Android fan here!!!!

Well, here's one way to make the i-pad into a shirtpocket device! :smug:

I have "the Poor Mans i-Whatever:" the Nokia Internet Tablet. They've had Bluetooth, Wifi, GPS, excellent video quality, and hand held video conferencing ability for years.

My biggest question about the iPad is wether I should get a 138 or go for a 150. I'm thinking I can ride the 150 better in the waves.

Here's an interssting question. Would you rather have an iphone, an iphone, a netbook, or a laptop?

I have an iphone and love it. I also have a mac powerbook that is great. Though, I do understand some of the software issues. I have had a couple occasions where games I wanted didnt work, other things just acting.. funny.

The ipad looks very cool, but I'm not sure where it would fit in with everything else. I already have an iphone, which wouldnt be replaced by the ipad. I have the laptop which I love... do I really need something inbetween the two? Not really...

I have the iPhone and I explain it like this: It's a great device...and it has a phone on it. I miss the days of being able to dial in the dark (when the wife leaves me tied up and I need help. <-----I figured I'd beat some of you to the chase there ; )

Don't get me wrong, I DO love it for what it is and since installing a bluetooth handsfree kit in the car it's the cat's ass. Prior to that though......no go on dialling in the car unless you were stopped. (We'er one of the few places in Canada that you're still allowed to use a cell phone while driving - not that I condone it....I support phone free driving.)

Arkay - I was hoping the iPad would have been enough to be "the netbook" of my dreams but I'd far rather spend way less to get a netbook with WAY more storage space and peripheral accessories and a full operating system....and throw the extra saving to the kite fund

Plus it kinda scares me that Apple is back in the "making their own chips" business. Some apple chips are good....but usually only the edible ones ; )
