Success!!

if you don't wanna read a wall of text, skip to the last paragraph.

So I got a Beamer III 4m from ripster a few weeks ago, and haven't really had the best conditions. One day of medium gusts and a few hours of a light drizzle with some decent wind ( i don't recommend that).

ANYWAY, today I get the front end of a winter storm that's supposed to head in tomorrow afternoon, and it was awesome. Idk what the windspeed was, but for where i live it was great. I grabbed my kite and headed up to the highest hill around and let her loose.

I flew around a bit, just testing in the wind; a figure 8 here, a kiteloop there. Fun stuff. My friend showed up to watch and i handed it over to let him try. As he was zoomin around, i tried to talk him through a pendulum jump (a feat i'd yet to accomplish). As he was fumbling around trying to do it, he got yanked up pretty hard. Naturally, we spent the next hour trying to figure out what he had done.

Thoroughly frustrated at our inability to replicate the maneuver, and with the impending sundown, we decided to put it down and pack up. But, while i was positioning the kite above where i wanted it to fall, it caught some wind, did a giant arc and sat me on my ass. Excited, i jumped up, ran through the same motion, ran the other way, jumped and...SUCCESS. It wasn't so much as a jump as it was hanging in air for a couple seconds, but i'll take it. I managed to replicate it a couple more times, one time getting dragged pretty handedly (thanks for warning against a bigger kite). Fun night. On a side note, i also lucked my way through a self relaunch, with the whole flipping the kite and launching it shindig.

In summary, i managed to not only fumble my way through a self relaunch, but also a pendulum jump. It was fun. I am hooked. Thank you for reading.
