Need your Videos, Help with why and how?
I have been approached by our regional School board wanting me to come into the schools. They would like a good video, lots of props etc to show the
kids with question time and what is happening and the potential for this sport. Any one wishing to contribute would be great, safety must be the top
issue at all times. This is a great offer and really hope to get it together. Should really open some doors for our sport in a big way. So, what do
you think, up for the challenge?
I only have dial up but will arrange to get to high speed to get videos if people offer to become involved. Credit will be given to those who send
videos.
Thanks

I'm definitely not an expert, but have thought about how one could somehow introduce power kiting into a phys ed curriculum. I was thinking that if
one put together a handout that contained an intro into all the directions one can go with the sport. A brief history lesson explaining when the sport
started and how the kites have changed to where they are today would also be a good thing to include. I would think that if someone with a larger
quiver containing different types of kites (Open Cell Foils, Arcs, Lei, etc.) this way a video can be created describing setup, launch, land,
safeties, and care. An inclusion of buggying, landboards, snowboarding/skiing, and water riding should be shown to draw all kinds of people. I think
that the important part would be that the video should not be much longer than 30-45minutes, so that it can be covered in class session. After the
video a short quiz could be given out so that the teacher could grade the students on the topic. I thought of how a qualified kiter could be brought
in to either teach the students to fly a small 1.5-2meter trainer. Or the teachers involved could be given a course on flying. Then the school could
buy a set of trainers to teach classes with. I would think that having an experienced pilot like yourself on hand to assist with the flying would be
best. It seems to me that since the sport is growing faster these days, that it wouldn't hurt to have it implemented as a two or three week course. Of
course I think that it would be best with students grade 8 or older as any younger would be difficult to teach handling and safety within the sport.
I'm no English major, but I will try to write up a rough draft over the next few weeks covering maybe a 3-6 page handout. If it ends up being too much
for you then no worries just use what you can, or add to it any way you want. Like I said I'm not much of a writer but will try my best to help you
out.

I would round up some youtube links to use. Maybe the schools have broadband or maybe you can just copy them.
Theres ways to copy and edit them if you google it. If you feel bad about doing that, just ask the author.
I have two, just some low wind flying, you might use a segment of them to show not all kiting is extreme.
