Overcame a fear today!
So, I've had my Turbo Diesel for a few years now, in fact it was my first major step into power kiting (after my Stylus - I know a big step). I bought
from a fellow kiter who distributes for Slingshot. It seemed like a good thing to do at the time. But after taking it out to a field and launching
myself into the air (I landed it fine) I never flew it again. It put the fear in me for sure. After dumping a heck of a lot of cash into that kite, I
went the cheap route and bought some Legends to hone my skills without worrying about killing myself.
Well, today I finally took my TD out for a fly, and I discovered that it isn't that scary of a kite on the open frozen lake. I put on 30 km today with
my snowbaord. The whiteout conditions were interesting as the other kiters vanished into the horizon.
The TD certainly has some trade offs vs the Apex which I usually fly. It has much more bar pressure and I found that my hands were getting rather sore
by the end of the day. Though, I did enjoy the lack of luffing in the lulls. Much harder to set up alone though as there was only one other kiter out
on the lake when I got there.
But all in all it was a really positive experience and I certainly want to get more experience with this kite.
Oh and my new Ozone SB harness is seriously awesome! Its much more comfortable than my Dakine Storm. Though I don't know if it will fit me in the
summer when the winter clothing comes off.... seems like it might be a bit big.
Sorry for the long winded thread... just thought I would share the stoke!

Oh how I was longing to be out there with all of you today.....I hope you had enough fun to share - sounds like you did!
Might have to coordinate some snowboard tips off of you if we ever happen out there this winter. Not doing too bad but not mastering it anytime soon ;

Yes, air will be my next goal and that TD will get me up there I'm sure. Its a fair bit liftier than the Apex.

I've actually found that the TD kites do not have as much lift as you might expect. They have a lot of grunt, but not as much lift. I'm sure it has
something to do with the way it sits in the window. Regardless, there is already a thread on jumping in the snow. With the TD2, you will really need
to master pop and release to get good jumps. You can send it WAY back in the window, and it just might put you in the air, but you are going to get
dragged downwind a fair bit. Start working on those pop & release skills.

I'll just stick you on the Guerilla 18M, incredibly gentle and lift and floats like crazy.
