ok, so as you know... because i never shut up about it, lol.... i'm shooting for around 200lbs for this summer. That in mind im jonesing for a new kite, and i'm down to a neo(1) 11m or a montana(4) 12.5m... I know there are a few floating around the boards, just wondering which you all think i'll like more. Water-flight is a slim chance this summer, and i've got my phantom if i really want to try... plus i'd still need to get a board. i'm really looking for something that i can solo fly on my hour lunches all summer. 5 min drive to my field, 5 minute unpack, 40 mins of fly time, back to work...

So i'm looking at easy/time of unpack, ease/time of set-up and get flying... and the ease/speed of pack up... Both are good kites im sure, but just wondering which i'll fall for more...

I'm leaning toward the montana because i think it'll do better in the low summer winds, and be a little easier to drop out of the sky and pack up on my own...

This will be for ATB ridin'.... if im dropping monies on kites, i cant afford a buggy

For flying solo, go for the Montana. If it were a Neo 2, I might say Neo, but not with the Neo 1. Both due to the safety/stalling issue on the Neo 1 and the fact that the Neo 2 inflates much better and much easier, with no help. With those two options, the Montana will definitely be easier for you.

the neo1 im looking at has some mods done to it...should make it easier to land in higher winds or emergency situations

Won't change the inflate though. The Neo 2 really does inflate faster and easier than the Neo 1. Go for the Montana.

I can comment on the Montana, and it being my first depower and low wind kite which we have alot of I love it! It sets up fast, inflates fast, and packs up fast. And with it being my first depower and my super low skill level I've used the top hat release many times and she always folds and immediately drops. I usually setup and packup myself as long as the winds not blowing to bad causing the pack up to take longer :wow: I just posted alittle video in the landboarding thread where I'm flying it in almost now wind. My wifes Beamer 2m wouldn't fly most of the time there until gusts picked up.

I'd say that for the land specific riding, and ease of setup, go with the Montana...
For water, I'd say the Neo, but since you arent looking at that yet.... *shrug*

Agreed on the Montana. It is as quick to set up and break down as your twister except you have to put a harness on and it is more fabric of course. Both kites are good at going upwind so if its hanging out at its edge of the wind window and your wind changes direction, the kite will fold up. You have to be proactive and keep the kite moving there until YOU get moving, then everything settles out. That 12.5 will fly with low wind for sure but you will be blown out quickly if the wind picks up. I.E. small wind range. I've loved the Montana since the MIII 9.5 we first got. I haven't flown the MV yet but look forward to it with the updates.

I have a pulse II (similar to the neo) and if you are looking for something quick to setup, fly and packup at lunch then these aren't the kites for that - especially if the ground wind is flakey. Without having flown either but being familiar with the differences in the two I'd vot for the montana.

PS, are you shooting to slim down to 200# or bulk up to it ;-)

MONTANA!

If you are looking to do water and land then the NEO is the only logical choice. But if you are only going to be on land and not consider the water at all then the Montana wins hands down! With the open cells, set up and pack down are instantaneous and the Montana will have a little less overall weight than the NEO which will make it easier to fly/turn/launch in most wind conditions.

Both kites are awesome but for land only - open cell is the only way to go.
