Boy those new boards make my Kava look like Model-T Ford

Good work  some nice angles in there! How did you attach the camera to the lines at the kite? Or the board?

Just a tip but ... parking a kite in a tree is a bad idea

Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

Nice work! What sort of rig were you using for the kite shots?

nice work, you have a nack for video editing..... why do you have a harness on but no strop?
also in low wind dont let the blade get too low into the window or it will fall.

thats one heck of a lifty kite to fly with out a strop. i bet you were a little sore in the morning

get a strop, good work on the film. i like yalls skatepark over there by midtown, the bowls are sweet.

happy flying!

Hey guys, thanks for the support! My kites seem to have a magnetic attraction for trees. Don't yours??? ;)
I like to be able to laugh at my mistakes and learn from them... or at least just laugh at them.

Bladerunner suggested I add some downloops to my repertoire to rekindle power in lulls. I've also learned a few tricks since this footage was shot. I can now do some small jumps and sliding transitions. I've pulled off toeside a couple times, but I get confused on which way to spin when hopping around sometimes... Gotta get to the coast again for some more practice soon. :)

I would have used a strop, but I feel it limits my control in low wind when I really need to work the kite. I usually wear the harness even if I'm not hooking in cuz it has a nice loop on the hip that I keep my stake handy in.

On the camera angles: I used my GoPro and the big suction cup mount directly on my deck for the low angle closeups. When the cam pans up, its just a post-production Ken Burns effect. For the kite rig, it was pure ghetto. My friend Russ just duct taped his Contour HD to one of the power lines near the kite. I woudn't recommend it except in a pinch though. Its not very stable, and I had to use careful editing to prevent inducing nausea. :P

Trees? In Japan? Are you mad - they take up way too much space that could be covered with concrete then make all the surrounding concrete dirty! What a silly idea  yes I'm in a septic mood ...

"My" park has a few stunted, groomed to within an inch of their lives trees and a few square feet of grass, but the biggest obstacles are the bloody baseball backstop cage things and random fencing put up in the middle of nowhere. Oh and stupid people who really feel the need to get up close and personal with me, my kite and the board

I've managed to avoid flying into obstructions to date

Yeah well I can't seem to keep my kites out of the trees, so I'm not feeling like hugging one lately. I got my Ace stuck in one just today and tore it in 3 places yanking it down from the overhead branches. That's the 2nd kite I've ruined in a tree. I turned my Synergy into a pincushion this December. At least I haven't ruined the Blade yet...

I've flown into obstacles before, must be failing depth perception.lol I flew my 2M Beamer into a tree while riding the buggy, got lucky and jumped out in time, was able to back out of the tree on the brakes, and fly away! Very lucky there. Also flew the NPW5 4.8M into a goal post, but let go in time, no damage.
