Calls of nature? spankings? Sounds less like you are looking for a GPS than a camera with:
New GPS capability will automatically geo-tag your photos with the exact location of where you shot that picture.
Please attach MPAA ratings to your pictures
For a straight GPS, the Garmin eTrex family (Legend, H) seems to get the nod.
ArchKiter took the traverse log from his eTrex Venture and dropped it into Google Earth.

GPS receives and maps data, but would have to send data back out for you to be able track a lost GPS unit.... there are some pricey ones that do that,
but the companies generally don't make that information readily available to the consumer.

I chose the Delorme Earthmate. I picked it because it offers more mapping abilities than the etrex. We use ours for biking, hiking, kayaking and
such so we needed more of the mapping stuff. If you just want the track and speed data, an etrex is more affordable. The delorme is also waterproof
and has really cool RAM mounting brackets that could even adapt to a board if you wanted. I put a RAM mount on the downtube of my buggy and the gps
just snaps right in and doesn't move till I take it out. I have another RAM mount on my Mt. bike. Like any unit, it allows you to put in waypoints on
the fly.

Hmm, well bushnell seems to be having some business trouble from what I hear but I just got one of their $400 onix gps units for 100 on woot. Its
pretty slick to be honest.
you can get xm weather if u choose, xm radio to headphones, download aerial maps like google earth, as well as basic mapping and breadcrumb features.
I'm still working out how to use it full but its satisfied me so far especially for the price....

I've got the eTrex and it's way more than I need. I can export the tracks and bring them into Google Earth, log max and avg speeds etc. You can get a
$99 one up here that I believe does all that - the other $200 I paid must be all the other junk it can do ??
Spent too much.

I found the eTrex on craigslist for $45.00 it was a Xmas present that turned out to be a duplicate. I like the idea of seeing it before I buy

The etrex is the low end model. Good unit and much burlier than other non-garmins but it's not waterproof only splash resistant. I have one lying
around, if I can still find it as I went to a garmin 60csx. If you are just looking for you location within 100ft or to measure speed then it'll work
just fine. Note, it does not have maps.
