if your harness has a handle pass rope on the back of it, connect one end of the leash to that if not just connect it to your spreader bar. the
other end connect to your chicken loop. depending on what you are flying, it might have a dedicated ring to attach it to. or you can connect it to
your depower rope just above the chickenloop.
I'll most likely be using a best nemesis C kite. @Carltb-What about safety? I remember in one of your videos, there was a clip where the kite was
suspended above you and the chicken loop was attached to a leash that was connected to you and you said this is why I wear a leash. Is this the setup
you're talking about? I know the synergy used a leashless system, but would I have another leash attached to the fifth line?

its called a suicide leash. with a depower kite the kite will crash or idle like an arc. but still pull you! convenient retrieval basically..
suicide on a "depower" kite is by far safer than a c-kite. depower kites need to be trimmed to depower esp. arcs for unhooked riding.
a c-kite, kite needs to be trimmed to fly well unhooked ,, for a c-kite it's not really a problem because you should be launching unhooked (safety
leashed to the 5th line) anyway. the 5 th line on a C-kite works same hooked or unhooked
if you drop the bar the Sth line catches the kite and shuts it down,
a loop leash on a c-kite is a true suicide leash w/o 5th hooked up (caution advised here) a super long redundant leash to the 5th works but a bit
messy and tangles would be a problem.
with an old nemi you would be on the 5th line safety , hooked or unhooked kiteand safety leash would be the same.....full on ! but thats what a
c-kite is for.
pros and cons of riding suicide or on the safety.
pro - suicide - if you miss a handle pass from height then you still have abit of float from the kite for a softer landing
con - suicide - the kite has still got abit of power in it and can still pull you. you dont have any control over the kite as the bar is several feet
away from you
pro - safety(5th line) - loose the bar, loose the power
con - safety(5th line) - drop like a stone
i personally ride suicide when unhooked, but the leash also has a safety on it. if it all goes tits up then fire the safety but loose the kite.

Small point for clarity; the Synergy is not leashless. It comes with a leash and that is how you dump it.
HQ advertised "leashless" safety on the first Neo and their other de-powers (Montana, Apex) but I do not recommend this. Any de-power can come
unhooked, and grabbing an unhooked bar when unexpected is always an attention- getter.

That's a really cool idea. Here was my thought on how you could rig it to have the best of both worlds. What would happen is if you didn't pull the
safety, it would put tension on the chicken loop. You would put the leash backwards so that the safety was next to the chicken loop, and if you were
getting dragged and the kite wasn't crashing, you would pull the leash safety which would put tension on the fifth line. You would have to modify the
leash though by attaching another bungee below the safety release, but it would definitely work, and I don't think the leash safety would be too hard
too reach, depending on the length of your leash.

You don't really need that extra bungee as Carl points out in the vid, just use you chickenloop safety. If your leash is too short it will hang on
everything once you get into handle passes. With the proper length leash the release will be out of reach and you will need to pull it toward you
first. Hence, "suicide leash" Your leash should have a safety close to your body for the final oh #@%$#! release.
