After picking up a set of 8x8 aluminum rims from Kent, I decided to look around a bit for some tires. There is a numerous amount of tires that come in an 8" size to fit these rims; here is some that I've found. Links can be found 'at this place'

Here's what I settled on which were the Carlisle 18x9.5x8 turf tire. Tread depth is minimal for a 4ply tire which should allow some sliding on the turf while adding a couple extra miles out on the playah.

nope, he has 8x8s now too. I just ordered 3 4x8s and he shot me an email lettin me know about the 8x8s.

We've had the 8x8's for quite a while but haven't had the chance to get them listed up on our website yet.

Cool I would trust Carlisle much more than MTD.

Those 16x6.5 rib tires look to be a duplicate of the Flexi/PL wide tires. The 18's look to be almost in bigfoot light territory.

the place that sells those tires also have some wicked rims, but they are all four bolt mount. think an adapter could be fabbed... or would it work...?:dunno:

Todd I have never heard of them. But could be.
Although in Haddam Neck we are quite proud that we do not even have a convenience store! No traffic lights and maybe 3 street lights. Seven miles to the nearest anything. And wouldn't change it if I could.

Depends to a point on the type of racing. On long courses the increased rotational inertia will be a benefit (keep you going through any lulls). The inertia would be a hindrance for short courses where you slow down often.

Is that the Nanco? Last set of Nanco's I bought, one was bad and I mean bad. It was an egg! It would be nice if you could find a 4 bolt spindle in 20mm, off to Google.

it would be pretty easy to fabricate if ya had the bearings and pipe to fit. Hmmm....

I got the Nanco Speedracers in my hands now. Going to get them mounted up and see how they fit / look. I will try to get some pics of them when they are done.

The 8" rims will fit on the Monster buggy on the rear, but you will have to check them to see if they will fit on the front. Easiest way - measure the distance between the front forks and see if you have more than 8" clearance. If you dont, you can still run the 8" wheels on the rear and use the matching 4" wheel on the front.

Side pull? What side pull?;-)

Lol at the Mad Max wheels! So do any of those tires mentioned above require tubes or can you just slap them on the aluminum wheels and you are good to go? Also, Kent, whats the pricing on the 8" aluminum wheels?

@Jovver - I'm running tubeless in both sets of tires on my buggies. I have encountered two flat tires from riding in a field (I suspect glass bottle that I missed picking up)

Yea, you can run them tubeless or with tubes, depends on what you prefer. I am going to run tubeless on the rears but will put a tube in the front. The reason for the front tube is because the tire is much smaller than the wheel so it is nearly impossible to get the tire to "seat" against the wheel with just air pressure. The sidewalls of the tire have to stretch both up and down to meet up with the seat of the rim. With a tube it can just be pumped up from the inside and seat very easily. My tire shop (Discount Tire) has a "Bead Blaster" which is an air tank with a special air dump and nozzles on it that will allow you to blast the tire against the rim (with some work and a lot of praying) BUT....I don't have access to this on the lakebed should I get a slow leak or have to do any repairs of any kind - the tube will just make it easier to work on should the need arise.

The 8" aluminum wheels cost $160.00 each - and come complete with Wheel, two 20mm bearings and internal bearing spacers (already installed). The biggest expense on these is the shipping and customs to get them in the states. Hopefully we can get that down a bit more as quantities start to get bigger. It is a bit pricey for the wheel but compared to some of the other options (Pl Stainless wheels now @ $195.00 each) - it is a great deal for a much stronger and better looking wheel - plus it is 8" WIIIIIIIDE! (standard PL ABS wheel is appx. 3" wide).

We also have our own custom made bearing spacers that will allow you to mount the 20mm bearings / wheels onto the standard 12mm and 15mm axles for the Peter Lynn, Flexifoil and Libre buggies. Spacers are 19.95 per pair and are perfectly machined to fit.
