Hey Sailors,
Back in the late 40's - Right after the war - Returning G.I.'s began souping up old jalopies and running them at a remote desert dry lake.
The souped -up cars became know as "hot-rods"
(almost a profanity at the time)
And the desert dry lake - El Mirage - became known as "Elmer's Garage"
We showed up in the early 90's with our "kite-buggy" gear and the tradition began.
We refer to the spot we gather as Walt's Cove and the lake bed as Elmer's.
Safen Up! Buggy On!
