kite spars

http://www.tapplastics.com/shop/product.php?pid=144&

here's the spars i use. order 2 sizes so you can and inner and an outer to make your own collapsable spars. I also order 5 when i only need one...save a bunch of shipping charges.

Thanks for the link...I was just looking into replacement spars myself...I ordered some from Angus at Coastal Wind Sports but I was looking down the line for a cheaper alternative.

Here is what I was thinking of ordering - http://www.questoutfitters.com/tent_poles.htm#.433%22

Those are the 11mm or .433" spars which I think should work perfectly.

How does the Epoxy Tubing compare to the original spars in your opinion (i.e. strength, stiffness, longevity)?

Yes, that is what you have, as that's where where I got my stuff. their stock is normally 17" but i had mine cut down by Easton to 15". Quest is listing some 15" stock that they never did before so it might be an overrun from my order.

Next I will go direct to Easton to see if I can make them cheaper.

http://mgs4u.powweb.com/fiberglass-guide.htm

fiber glass sets i've used. no problems

sell in 8ft section and they'll do one cut for easy shipping

the 1/2" where the favored . very tough no breaks

you can also make a sleeve set , make great back up or run in older stuff

not the premium stuff like angus has but a solution

i've also bought the graphite tubes above--a bit more expensive. but the tubes from tap plastics works very well. seems like every kite i buy, i immediately replace the spars with one piece. i always roll my kites up and keep stored in a sausage bag. then the aluminum spars corrode and you can't get them apart.

Me to, but if your kite gets a fresh water rinse from rime to time, a quick rinse of the aluminum poles will keep them good. What sets apart the Easton components are the round end caps that will not punch through the pocket like cookie cutter in a nose down crash like the originals can do.
