New D'Arc Member
I launched the V 19m today. I admit I was a bit scared of this thing. Plus never having used a depower kite before I didn't know what to expect.
Had some trouble getting it off the ground. Had it laid out straight down wind. Got about ready then the wind changed direction. So I got to watch it
roll over one way, then blow back the other way, fix it, then watched it do it all again and tie itself in some sort of knot, and repeat.
Man, thats a big kite to be fooling around with on the ground. Who would think four lines could be such a pain. Looks easy on the videos. LOL
I finally got it flying in not much wind and I loved it!!!
The worst part was when the wind would die. I could get it on the ground set ready to go back up but it would roll upside down and start that crap
again.
What do you do when a big Arc is upside down pulling like a mule?
Had several good flights, broke a spar somehow and packed it up.
Then the wind picked up and we had about three hours of fun with the GF's new Beamer 3m and the 5m Ace.
Can't wait to fly the monster again.
Sweet thang didn't shoot much video.
But I got a couple minutes.

Fantastic Hardrock! That is a scary kite when its all inflated on the ground huh? Looked like you weren't afraid to put her through the paces
either. Don't be afraid to pull your safety if you feel out of control.

an arc on the ground in shifty winds is no fun. get it in the air as quickly as possible !
to speed up things, use a akkupump. with an akkupump, you could also try to launch using an anchor. put your chickenloop to the anchor, bar completely
out and trimstrap completely in (max depower). then go to the kite, put it in taco position, and inflate it maximally using the akku pump. then just
raise a tip and it will go into autozenit.
that way you have the kite under control and it cannot flip around and roll over and do nasty stuff on the ground. and - in low winds - you can wait
for a small gust thet is strong to let the kite raise to the zenit.

(not the best video (weak wind) but you will get the idea; also see my other videos for several things playing around with an anchor)
also - at your spot there are lots of trees surrounding - seems no wonder that the wind is missbehaving at the ground...

Thanks guys,
dylan, I've been in touch with angus, he's in the process of getting all the things I need.
Bob, I don't have a safety you can pull but I had leash connected to one power line, Angus is sending me a leash with a some kind of quick release on
it too.
Didn't have a chicken loop set up ether, just a ring on a rope where I had to tie another loop to hook in and it fell out a few times, that wasn't
good.
Ever try and fly one of those things when you become disconnected from the harness? Gesh, thats probably when I broke the stick and got a quick lesson on how much power is available. Had there been wind, I wouldn't of
been playing around with that so called ready to fly deal.
But I'll get it took care of with help from Angus.
Tonight I'll check out herc's videos, looks like he's got some good stuff there.
I'm about to Arc all over myself.
