kite surf leasons north of San Francisco?

Well spring has come ! i planned to to go out on my local lake and get a feel for body dragging and try my hand at getting on the board. Unfortunately when the winds do come they are not so beginner friendly, its been lulls down to 5mph and bang up to 25 back to steady 15 then fall to 5 then match in the gas can again. another issue/excuse is with all the droughts we have had in the last few years the water district decided it would be a good idea to over fill our lake, there is no shore its trees about 20 feet into the water. ive hiked / kayaked almost all the way around it and haven't seen what i would call a safe launch point.

I feel like i need to the ball rolling, ive been trying to find some where close for lessons, and well either my google fu is weak or there just are not many places teaching. I live in ukiah ca about 2+ hours north of San Francisco, id like to not have to travel all the way down for some lessons if i don't have to.

Does any one know of a "good school" north of san fran that they could recommend ? Ive heard some talk of bodega bay, but i haven't seen any feed back on if its worth your time and considerable chunk of cash they charge. Do all places charge close to 500$ for a day or 2? Well thanks for reading this long drawn out question, and any/ all advice is welcome, thanks

Mood: They're ALL good ideas. Right up until they become BAD ideas.

I don't think it counts as "north" but I had heard good things and was gonna check out Alameda. No wind when we drove through (and no time had it been blowing....)
