Wow they have come down a lot in price. I have one that I got about 6-7 years ago and they were 115.00 CDN. It works fine but with the small recessed
prop you need to make sure you are pointed directly toward the wind. There are some anemometer designs with a freely exposed prop that will get the
wind when held up in any direction. My biggest thing was the lack of an on/off switch so it's always on. Nice to get temperature readings and time etc
but really never used the majority of functions and in fact it was rare that I actually use a wind meter and then a couple of times when I looked for
it the battery was dead. But that was looking for it maybe a couple of times a year in nuking winds to see what the extreme gusts were. In fact this
posting reminded me that I had one, haven't looked at in several years.
Sounds like the model is a bit different now with the ability to upload weather forecasts - I guess the forecast wouldn't change though once uploaded?
We always see it as a jinx on the wind when it's light wind and guys are all pulling out wind meters. You know it's a big kite day so quite blocking
the wind with that meter!
Sounds like a fun present at a nice price. Happy early birthday.
