Yeah, the winds were crappy but I couldnt resist getting the buggy out. Anyway I was zig-zagiing back and forth cause the wind was on a weird angle
and I ended up stalling right on the shoreline. As I wa sworking to get the kite back up in the air I got punded by a wave

i once had my bigfoot buggy float away at the beach.
it was save the kite or buggy from going into the drink.
just wash it in fresh water and keep an eye on the bearings.

I have found that the ocean makes a very effective brake, but has a deleterious effect on personal electronics such as Blackberries, etc.
Nothing like crashing through a tidal pool on a hot day to cool off though!
Yeah, just rinse with a garden hose, let it dry, then shoot the bearing faces with Teflon spray. Good to go.

I would pull the wheels off and rinse the inside w/ fresh water also. you don't want corrosive sea water just sitting in there w/ no way out. and if
it went under, chances are it has gotten between the bearings. Now might be a good time to repack your bearings w/ grease. If seawater gets inside of
them ,it will destroy the ball bearings really quick. I just had to overhaul my scrub landboard because of too many dips in the sea. Bearings sounded
like they had gravel in em' instead of ball bearings.

Yeah, a picture would have been priceless. The buggy...kite...and self...all in the ocean. I couldn't believe it!
I had given it a rinse with the garden hose when I got home, dried it off and sprayed it with WD-40. I think i'll do the wheel thing like you
suggested weldongod but what kind of grease do you put in there? Can I just get it from Home Depot?
There are supposed to be eastern winds tomorrow so I may be safe from a repeat (pretty good wind speed too)....paging Jim Roberts, and anyone else in

The pool, the video camera.....i'm sure this all lays somewhere in our future...good times ahead!
Cheesy, i'm looking at Belmar Beach for tomorrow. Windmapper is saying there is going to be East winds around 10+ mph. The beach is pretty wide and
long enough although its no Wildwood. I have to work so this beach is an option cause its pretty close to me. Its on the central Jersey Shore. Are you
thinking about coming?

hey rando
have you buggied at belmar before???
i used to buggy there years ago. but the snobie rich home owners called the cops on me
a few times and i almost got locked up. in fact thats where we(the nj buggy group) used to meet up every other weekend. before the big dollar houses
went up.
be careful. those home owners think they own the beach and any thing
they see they don`t like they will call the cops. other time at belmar. off season. i was just flying kites and they called the cops on me cause i
was smoking on the beach.

auto parts store, bearing grease. But if they arent leaking and feel smooth, they might be fine. Are your bearings sealed or sheilded? sealed has
black rubber coated seals on the sides, sheilded has metal sides

Head up!
Forecast looked great today, so I put the bug in the truck this morning and head off to work. Job was a few blocks from Spring Lake Beach and got done
with the job around 3:00. Low tide was 1:30 so I'd be losing hard pack to the incoming tide. Winds were close to perfect onshore @ 8-12 and put up the
14m Gin Eskimo.
Beside a few fisherman and blanket loungers, I had the 4 mile run (Belmar and Spring Lake) to myself. BUT that'll all change this weekend through
Sept. when the tourists invade this quiet town and turn it into party central. Anyone ever watch MTV's Jersey Shore? Buggy party is over until they
leave.
So I get in the PL buggy with recent BF wide axle conversion (Thanks Todd!) and was treated to an epic 2 hour session. Ran the 4 mile run back and
forth twice, only stopping a few times to rest or talk to an occational curious onlooker. Might have a few newbie kiters here joining us soon
Winds were fairly steady and perfect being I'm quite new to buggying. Most of the time was park and ride using my downwind hand to push/pull the bar
to sine when needed. Other hand holding on to the side rail of the buggy. Only regret was not taking the GPS or GoPro. Also not putting on the splash
guard and getting blasted with sand and seaweed.
After awile the incoming tide is pushing me up to ride the dry sand. Lost some speed and traction, but fun getting sideways now and then.
So when I get back to pack up, I see a cop car sitting there. I get out of the buggy and figure I'll static fly for a few and see if he's there for
me? Guess not. He watched for a few minutes and went on his way. Good news.
Buggyman....I can't believe the homeowners would complain and call the cops?!?!?! They are across the road from the beach quite a distance and it's a
PUBLIC beach. I pay property taxes too. I could see the town banning it if we were irresponsible or for liability reasons... I AM responsible for
MY OWN actions. Why don't we live in that long gone era these days?!?!?! GEEZ! (end rant)
So I'm packing up and who calls but RANDO. He tells me he's heading to Belmar to buggy....(and hopefully stay dry)
I catch up with him later, but we're skunked with a high tide and low winds...then a storm front came crashing in.
Maybe one last Hurrah tomorrow...
I'm hooked good :singing:

Weldongod: I just used teh old WD-40 on the bearings but am gonna pick up the bearing grease like you suggested. I think its fine for now but I want
to have the grease on hand for the inevitable next time ;-)
Chezzy: sounds awesome, U2U sent :singing:
bugymangp: I can't believe that about Belmar! I've been kiting there for quite sometime and haven't had any trouble from the law. I have received a
lot of those long stares from the beat cops but t date have written them off to curiosity or a lack of their having something to say....I am always
worried that once someone DOES say something that it will have crossed the line and we'll be beat for a great spot.
I'm not sure what we could do (or should do) except keep our heads low and be respectful and safe....I sure hope we dont encounter any pronblems,
Has anyone else had this problem?

U2U sent. I drive though Belmar on my way home from work sometimes and will scout it out and see if the beach is empty enough to buggy late in the
day. Figure if I look up and down the beach and see more then a few dozen people, it's too many. Clouds and overcast might keep them home and be the
ticket for us.
A few blocks on the very north end may be wide enough to avoid "pedestrians", but most of the run, from 10th St. down though Spring Lake, is narrow
and your flying over them. Not good.
Looks like we hijacked your thread Randy. At least those million dollar homeowners won't find us here talking about buggying on THEIR beach. ;-)
