Sunset Beach OR Long Beach???

The Washington group is planning a meet at Long Beach, WA this weekend. Looks like quite a few will be at Sunset that same weekend.

Is anyone planning on going to LB when they come down? or vis versa?

Just wondering, looks like the tides are mid afternoon, just pray for wind.

I'm taking my tent and camping ??? Cape Disapointment ?
KC triple eight is taking his Big foot down for me so I'll still do a buggy run " out and back " with everybody.

I have to tell you I'm VERY pleased to get to stand up ride the beaches though ! :wee:

I checked cape dissapointment and it only has 2 rv sites left for
$39.00 I called around and I might stay at wildwood. It is only $20 and closer than the cape anyway. Might be able to split a campsite too there. Other places seem more restrictive, expensive or don't allow tents

Woot! I'll have my ak cruiser... maybe rip will bring a board with pop :) I'd love to see skates on sand :p

I plan to be there Sat and Sun; one of the day I'm doing a 20miler up and back in the buggy.

I support NAPKRA for many reasons, there a good thread on that. However the dues alone is worth the ride at long beach. Heck I'd pay several times that for just one day at long beach :) Did I just volunteer for something?

Just got some fresh fabric to ride! Can't wait to see the crew!!

"Bring you blades and board, the parks people would like to see ALL aspects of "wind powered vehicles".
Ok, calm down here.
These are NAPKRA events, the only boarding that can be done is for park personal for their viewing pleasure. Also, and I have to say it, it is not a time to demonstrate
altitude. Remember these are events to not give general public
and others any area to question our activity. ATB is in the same ballpark as skateboards. Some folks have very negitive feelings about them. We can't do anything that will increase that negitive atitude. Yes it is real easy to get excited and forget the purpose of these events. Speed control, flying in control around kids and others, this area could be busy this weekend. Ok, I'm off my soapbox for now. I'm not always near the computer or cell range this week so it is not easy to get in touch. We will gather a mile or so South of Klipsan beach access starting around 9:00 AM Saturday.
See you there.

YES, I am aware that we are on our own and on our best behaviour if not riding a buggy. NOT covered bt NAPKRA .

I do think it is important that we show them that we can and do jump but that we only do so in spots with unlimited clearance. + we are not out to hurt ourselves or others . To give them the impression we stay earthbound is still not telling the whole story ?

I myself am too wussy to jump in anything but ideal conditions. I almost never see Rip' miss on a jump. I know that Arkay isn't one to go overboard either.

Sorry, can't help it, I'm Excited !

UH OH I didn't think the camp grounds would be so busy with school still in. YES, I would pitch tent with you at Wildwood Stetson. I'll try and get my own spot tonight.

Here's the problem folks with anything other than buggys for the Washington events. The parks dept has a requirement for insurance to hold these events and NAPKRA has such a policy. The only problem is, that it only covers buggys at this time.

It is true that a ranger (or maybe even two) has stated they would like to see all aspects of WPV's, as we would like to as well. But, does the Ranger that stated that have the authority to over ride the insurance requirement?

This is what we are jeopardizing. If a pilot of a non-buggy WPV has a mishap that causes some damage (highly unlikely I admit) which thereby is NOT covered by the insurance, what does that say to the Washington Parks Dept about us being able to abide by the rules. Let alone how it could possibly effect our insurance as well.

As stated in another thread, there is a step in the direction to have other WPV's added to the policy. Brad has spent a lot of time to get the original policy in place and now is spending even more time to get this additional coverage. He has asked for additional info from our family here on this forum and people are stepping up. The sooner we get this accomplished the sooner we can be in good standing to accommodate more aspects of this sport.

The parks person who said they'd like to see all aspects of wind-powered vehicles was Eric (Watilo?) a regional director.

The real key is to not go crazy, take it easy and stay in control.

I think I will do exactly what Evans asks of me . I have informed Brad of the offer and will make it clear to ALL that we will NOT be backed by NAPKRA ( on this visit ) . If all goes well we will be covered for all WPV when the insurance is renewewd. If it is decided that we hold on until then , I'm O.K. with that . I'm also O.K. with riding on my houshold + out of country medical insurance as always.

The last thing I want to do is cause Evans any trouble. He is fighting one heckl battle as it is.

Booked at Wildwood Sat night.

I plan on being at the beach access on 225th street before 9am. Might be a good place to meet and then decide where to setup for the day.

I've never been to LB in the early summer. Can anyone give me an idea what the 225th st access is like. Looking at the satellite pic there appears to be a road built out onto the beach like Balstad. Hopefully it will be ok for two wheel drive.

The 225 st is klipsan beach access. I just looked at it and I will not drive out there with my 2wheel drive heavy motorhome van. I will have to look for other options. 1 possibly bolsted approach from longbeach. 2 loomis lake st park And walking out. I'll start early.
