Hey, I am going to be in Portland OR for from 6/2 to 6/5. I am new but would really like to meet up with anyone to learn a few things and fly for a while. I don't have a buggy or anything so.... maybe someone would be really really nice and let me try one Really Just want to get out and fly. I could potentially make a trip to the beach for a day as well, anything to at least find a place to fly.

Gotta' see what my plans are but I'll try to fit a beach run in on the 2nd or 3rd.

I'm off that week. I've got plans with family on Sunday, but I'm up for anything on the 2nd or 3rd. I hear Sunset is a war zone on that weekend. May need to look into an alternate location.

Just say where and when and I'll be there :D

Why Sunset Beach will be the place to be! My Family and I will be there for the 4th. The problem on the holiday is too many people on the beach. But we do have secret places. River beach, and the Columbia jetty back to the Airedale are just two of them.

Well I have a Tensor 5.0 Which I have kept under control what I think is reasonably well in up to 10 - 15 mph winds. I Really just want to get out and fly and meet some other... what do you call it... "wind heads" I mean other kite enthusiasts. I don't know if I'll be able to get out to the beach twice, no real plans for the 4th other than to hang out with my sis.

everywhere is a zoo I'll be at the coast but if I fly I'll be north of shipwrek. Hopefully the wind will be nuking and I'll get some water time with all the crowded beaches :/

Like I said, name a time and a place, preferably not more than an hour or so from Portland and I'll be there. Even if I can't fy for some reason I still would like to meet some people. Found a wonderful soul willing to let me borrow a buggy, I can't wait to try that.

So Friday, the winds look to be starting out of the North @ 9mph and switching to the NW @ 17mph. Looking good for the afternoon.

I plan to take off Friday. I need to head up to sunset to swap rails with jon... so...

Sometime during the day I'm going to _try_ to head up in the late morning, but with kids, it's always up in the air! Given the forecast, I imagine Jim and Jon will be out there bright and early and until it's dark. Come to think of it, we might need a portable blender!

Wind looked fantastic today on the sensor wnw 10-15. Friday looks like 10-15 increasing to 15-20; but that far out who knows!


Ahhh summer moon... should be great from the beach perspective pretty much all day. 6ft is getting up there so up by the shipwreks might be a bit sketchy with the car.

We setup somewhere between 0.5-2 mi north of the sunset beach entrance off 101. There should be cars with trailers, a big ol'truck, a windsock, or at least kites in the sky! Just drive on up and say "hi, that looks like lot of fun. I've never flown a kite before but I'd love to give it a try. What's the biggest kite you have?" :bigok:

Sounds good, I am gonna try to get there not too late in the morning, early afternoon at the worst. You are talking about friday the 2nd right?

Looking like I won't be up this weekend. If I do any flying it will have to be local.

Manzanita lit up from 3-8, it was blowing 11/18/20, that's about as consistent as you could ask for! I think the 11 was just a bird flying in front of the wind meter :o

Hey Everyone, sorry its taken me a bit to get on here, been sore as heck from friday and saturday on the beach, thats been the most fun I have had in a long time. I learned a lot from all of you, RRR, arkay, heliboy50, and everyone else too whos name's I cannot remember at the moment. After flying the R2 3.7 and Core 3.0, my tensor seem really boring now, lol. I took it out yesterday for a bit, had just enough wind to help shake out all the sand after it's multiple baths, lol. I can't wait to get together with any of you guys again.

Huge thanks to vwbrian for letting borrow your buggy. Sorry it was completely cover in sand, it got a bit of a bath too,

Like I said I learned a lot and had a blast, I can't thank all of you enough.
