Anyone read this

Looking for material to help progress on the board and found this e-book. It seems to have good reviews, so I was considering it but looking to see if anyone has read it.

I like the

At least I just learned that riding GOOFY would be the right foot forward. I dont ride goofy on the ATB but have been on the water. Is that the same?

Off hand, I would say get it.

It makes a good companion to the Progression DVD and there is something to be said for printing out a couple of pages and stuffing it in the board bag if you want to concentrate on one or two skills during a session.

It may be considered a bit spendy at $9.95 for a total of 40 pages cover to cover, but you end up spending more on two lunches so what the hey.

Two nits:

There are some areas that would have benefited from diagrams. Maybe I just learn weird/geeky, so that seems like an omission to me. The rationale on the website is that paucity of diagrams/pictures is to prevent "milking your printer." Errr...ummm.... isn't that what workplace printers are for :saint: ;)

In their words: "The pics used are relevant to the page and include a few cool riding shots but are largely incidental."

I think it would be easier to gauge the materials suitability to the prospective buyer if they posted the table of contents to the website. Maybe that was an oversight, but it seems like a fairly common practice when distributing ebooks. Maybe it was intentional, in which case I would feel leery about doing it here without permission.

I think this is probably acceptable though....

There are 23 "sessions"

Sessions 1-14 are of the "practical" nature. Tangible, "this is how you do this", riding on different kinds of terrain, etc. kind of stuff.

Sessions 15-23 are more "Don't ask about the arrow, just draw the bowstring", semi-tangible, (hate to use the word, but) zen kind of thing. Depending on your mindset, it will either make you go "WTF" or it will make it easier for to digest/absorb the practical stuff.

In their words: " They (the latter sessions) have great descriptions and he sometimes comes across as some kind of wise old mountainboarding Morpheus or Mr. Miyagi. "

Oddily, while Morpheus and Mr. Miyagi, may be good comparisons, I think "Changsha" from Circle of Iron might have been a more apt. I expect the reference from a 1978 movie would have confused too many people though.... I feel REALLY old now. :sniff: :sniff:

Hope that makes sense.

ATB,
Sam

Kay I think that once I've completed wiping my computer this weekend I'm gonna get it. For $10 it has to have its money worth.
