Team Flying with foils (shamelessly x-posted from GWTW)

Because it's just so frikkin' cool and I was flummoxed that it didn't show up here first.

I know some people have already seen the original post, but figured enough don't frequent both forums, soooo..... :singing:

Honestly, They need to put some skillful tricks in the bag. The follow the leader flying made me want to slide the indicator forward some.

I bet it is tough to keep it together as well as they did. One big gust and they'ed been in a mess,:lol:

Was a first for me, thanks for posting.

Very cool. Thanks.
But a longer distance shot would have shone the syncro better. But still very cool.

Definitely agree... only thing I can think of is that a longer shot would sometimes mean people constantly walking in from of the lens. Sometimes the hard thing about photographing kites in motion is that by the time you have the kites and flyer in frame, the latter is postage stamp size... much less with 5 flyers.

What would you have liked to have seen besides "follow the leader" ?

Probably easier with a lower aspect kite, but I would have liked to have seen some slides, more synchronized touch-n-go's, bursts, and fountains.

Revs have much sharpers stalls and turns because of their frames, but it would be nice to see what could be carried over from their repetoire.

Still, I am pretty tickled to see anything even remotely like this.

Sam

the kites were a good choice for visibility. it is harder than it looks. 3 of us did the same thing with 2m Brooza's, a lot faster and the end result was more of a one bag mess.
Nice find Sam.

Broozas.... bird silhouettes would make it a flock

Definitely would have like to have seen that... mess or not.

Oh yea, it was cool, first time I ever seen anything like this.

For something that difficult maybe have 3 follow the leader while 2 breaks off to each side and do some low level tricks, like spinning or something,,,, keeping away from each other,, then join back with the group as they fly by,, then drop off again for another little anything.

I think they probably do have other programs they fly and this day is what fit best,,,, with that wind and time.

It would be great to go see em practice, no telling what they do when eye's are not on them. I bet they'll be more to come, I hope so.

Edit: http://revolutionkite.wordpress.com/

Some more good vids from their link. kite fishing? Hmmmm

I was impressed that they could even stay that close together. Don't forget they are flying Z2`s!!
They are race kites that can pull like hell. They had to have been flying in very low winds and then without harnesses!! They must have huge upper arms!!
I can only say Respect!!:bigok:

7 meters to boot!

Side by side launches would have looked like a not so small wall of nylon.

my thoughts too. static flying a 7m race kite for more than a few minutes is a feat in itself by my logic.

well I was impressed from the beginning but I must add that me and my daughter tried somthing like this today with a 1.5 Imp(me) and a 3 Flow(my Daughter (12)). Looked really cool but I don't want to say how many times we got all tangled up!
I had respect before but it just grew a whole bunch more!!

This stuff is awesome. I saw and amazing video but I can't find it now to save my life. There were 6 or 8 foils up doing some stuff like you see being done with as many revs. All kinds of crossovers that if you pay attention they never actually cross lines, but to most it would appear so. Man I wish I could find that video.....
