Wanted: 10m-12m depower

I am in the market for a 10-12 meter depower kite, preferably one that is water/land/snow capable.

I am looking to spend around 500 american dollars, but don't know if that is possible.

Any input or offers are welcome, thanks!

500 RTS?

Russian Trading System?

Might help to identify a currency that is on the ISO 4217 list that's readily accepted by XE.com or one of the other online currency conversion tools.

It would make it easier for people to gauge what is and isn't within your budget.

Best bet is a Peter Lynn Venom or Venom II. Several have sold here in that price range or a bit less in the last year.

I have been looking for a Synergy around that range at the right price, but have not seen too many. I have also looked into the orignal HQ Neo, but I kind of backed off from it after reading about safety problems people have had. My biggest problem is that this would be my first kite, and I have to spend money on other gear and accessories, depending on if it would be kite only or kite+lines+bar+etc...

First kite? Unless you have proper instruction with someone that can lend you a trainer to start on, this should not be your first kite, or you will get hurt.

Assuming you get instruction...

the Synergies will not generally be found for your price with bar. That's why I recommended the Venoms

Original Neo 1's can be modded for 5th line safety. It costs $60 inlcuding return shipping for Prokitesurf to put in the bridle attachment points and another $60-80 in materials, line etc. to rig. I have measurements. then you have a very versatile kite where you can take off the 5th line for light wind flying. But again this is not a beginners' project unless you have a trusted buddy to help that really know what he or she is doing.

Angus is right. You can get hurt real quick.

Buy a high quality 2m four line trainer unless you have someone's to borrow. You will learn the basics which really should not be done on a 10-12m kite. If you buy a good 2m, you will always have it to teach people how to fly, and believe me, you will have opportunities to teach people how to fly. If you don't have the ching, sell the 2m and reinvest in a 4 - 5m kite, figure that kite all out and then move up.

Even better yet, find some fly buddies and build a quiver together.

Lastly, and a warning... if you like the 2m, prepare to become addicted and find a second job so you can build your own quiver.:D

I should have beem more clear. I have 2 friends with 15m synergies, and we all fly together. I learned on a Beamer IV 3m and moved up to a twister II 5.6m, then once they got into land boarding they bought the synergies and I have flown that a few times now. I am not an expert, but not a novice. Now that I have a job I am able to afford a kite myself instead of bumming and borrowing off of friends, (It would be nice to fly with them) and would like something in the 10-12 meter range. Thanks for the input, and concern about safety. I imagine you keep a lot of people from getting hurt.

Cool, you sound as if you are already addicted. Pay attention only to the last point about a second job!

As far as finding the right kite at the right price, this is the place IMO.

Browsing ikitesurf.com found a few different arcs, all under 500. Your best bet is probably either the venom2 16m going for 400 rtf. I'm not sure if that's a good deal or if it is still available but that is also above the size you want. If you search 'lynn' you can get all the peter lynn kites for sale there. Also, you can find lots of great kites on that site, sometimes going for a very nice price.
Also, if something has been repaired it's value goes down but I wouldn't shy away from a kite so long as it was PROFESSIONALLY repaired as they can still be good kites for a steal. Plus since you are still learning you may crash the kite a few times.

I second the "repaired kites are a-ok" if the repair is done by a "professional".
two out of my 3 kites are repair jobs(and purchased that way)

I got in entire setup for 350....
Be patient and look for deals on ikitesurf or local forums
You DO NOT and SHOULD NOT be spending 500$ on a starter kite setup. Perhaps with harness, kite and board...
Chances are things will break or need repair first few times around. Once you're comfortable with everything get the nice stuff.

Unless you are set on getting an ARC (not a bad thing), I do have an 11m Slingshot Turbo Diesel 2 that I would be willing to part with for something in the 250-300 range (negotiable). Kite is a little beat up, but ready to fly. Would have pump, lines, bar, bag, etc. It hasnt been flown in over a year, drop me an e-mail/u2u if interested. Thanks.

I can vouch for Imperiallight. He has flown with me and is not a novice. I am not an expert by any means, but I intend to guide and teach too.

Got another one addicted haha

Is the custom applique work really expensive? :P

Seriously, I was wondering when one of these would accidently leap into your quiver...
