2011 Kites

I know its early yet but I'm wondering if anyone has heard anything on the new kite models that are being developed for 2011?? I read somewhere like a month ago that Ozone was planning some interesting stuff on their line-up including the introduction of a new fixed bridle, but that's all that I've heard. Long ways away till release dates but just thinking that its a good time to start getting ideas for x-mas gifts for myself

what I fly/ride:

12m Flysurfer Speed2
6m Ozone access xt
1.5m Ozone imp trainer

I posted the sail color layout sheet for the Ozone Method Intermediate FB. There is also a link to the Kitecrowd there in that post. The KC thread has a fair number of posts and updates in it so far.

That's all I have heard of so far.

u-turn kites partnership with spleene will come out with new water kites in 2011

u-turn also has the xenon expected in 2011

peter lynn NL is pretty tight lipped on new stuff (you would have to shoot me before I say anything) but they have new stuff coming.

xxtreme buggies also has stuff on the drawing board and its not just buggies anymore.

peter lynn NZ is always cranking out new stuff all the time, carbon seems to be the newest thing these days in the freestyle world.

scrub mtn boards was sponsoring a whole fleet of teamriders to help aid their R&D team. I can see them coming out with new kiting spec boards soon.

pkd is coming out with some new stuff in the depower / snow kite market.

for you gopro users, the said back screen was suppose to come in 2010 spring but tech said now in 2011. i highly doubt it will ever come out at this rate.

daskirtz and csa_deadon might hit 100km in 2011 @ NABX (ROFL)

keep you posted!!!

Shouldn't you know before I know. PL and PKD had dinner together in LV. I've known Michel since he was part Airea. You should chat with him, lots of kite design knowledge.

Ozone 2011 Foils are going into production later this month, and will be on the market in September. This includes the newly designed Frenzy, and the 2011 updates on the Access XT and Manta 3.

I was able to fly the 9 and 11 Frenzy proto's on the snow last April, before they went to Alaska with Chasta for a photo shoot. Those images will be hitting the streets soon. The new Frenzy is a dynamic and performance design, continuing the Frenzy evolution of usability and ever increasing agility.

The Method is a new Fixed Bridle Foil, falling in between the Flow and the Yakuza.

2011 Inflatable Kites including the C4, Catalyst & Zephyr will debut in September and be available to purchase in November.

More to follow soon...

Anything changing on the Access XT for 2011 besides the return of the clam cleat?

I'll never forget during our discussion when he was tweaking the bridle on my Reactor II and Michel said "when I designed this kite". He had my attention then. Lot's of kite design knowledge indeed.

Ozone has been on a 2-year design program with the depower foils for the last few seasons. Basically spending more time in developing new products before coming to market. Ozone has always leaned on innovation, rather than just throwing new colors on and calling it a new kite.
Last year the Manta 3 and Access XT were fresh designs, and for 2011 the Frenzy is the newest addition.

To answer your question Mr. Wolf, The Access XT is essentially the same design for 2011 & 2010. New colors and a new bar are the only changes for this winter. I do like the neon!

I think this is a strong move, as the XT became a kick ass kite last year when Ozone amped up the performance with the double pulley bridle and Y-line set up. In a lot of ways the Access started catching up with the Frenzy performance, yet it still offers the most stability for challenging conditions. The 6m XT served me well on many a windy day in the 30-45mph range.
