Oregon kite retailers - Where to buy new equipment

I'm planning a camping trip next week somewhere in Oregon and Washington and I was thinking I'd take my shopping list, no sales tax I hear. Anyway I'm looking for a mountain board, a 11 - 14m Neo or Flysurfer, or anything else I "need". I was hoping someone coud suggest a good store that has stuff in stock that I could pick while I'm there, rather than order and wait. Any suggestions guys?

The only place I can say is Cleanline surf shop in Seaside Oregon had new mountain boards 2 years ago. I have seen them there several times so I bet they are still there. Otherwise if you go through Seattle Wa there might be a couple of shops around but I am not really sure. Off the top of my head I am thinking Powerzone for flysurfer and bigkid. You should be able to get tax free in Washington too with your ID.

CleanLine is an excellent shop and I highly recommend them. Josh (the owner) is a great guy to deal with.

Good to know. Who has kites in the area? I looked at Rips site and only saw stunt power kites.

I checked out the Cleanline web site. Sure looks like they have some good stuff. They list two stores on their site, I'll have to check them both out.

Ripsessionkites, will you have mt boards and HQ / Fllysurfer kites by mid Aug? If so I'll certainly drop in.

that site is for address purposes only, i only deal with the power kites in there. there should be stock in hand by than if not sooner.

if its not instock, its actually easier to deal within canada (province to province) should you come up short in finding what you want on your trip in Oregon. you could have a kite and mtn board by next week on your door step too. =)

washington turned down that tax-free for canadian residents. totally sucks.

Cleanline is near the beach in NW Oregon and is a reputable and respectable retailer with a complete line of products from wetsuits to kites to surf boards on the shelf. The owner is a great guy as well and knows his products. BTW- They are Ozone's exclusive retailer for that section of the coastline and they carry gear from land boards and foils to inflatable kites.

I always like to support local when possible, if you are in Canada and can score gear before the trip, that is a safer bet than hoping a shop has something on the shelf when you get there.... Unless you are traveling to Las Vegas, those Power Kite Shops always stock a mad selection to drain your wallets!! :)

I would suggest hitting Cleanline and the Newport shop while on your travels, I try to visit every kite shop when I'm on a road trip, there are always bits of knowledge floating around. I guess it depends how far south you go.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I had a chance to check out Clean line last Saturday. Good timing too as it was their 30th anniversary and everything was 10 percent off. Limited kites but I was able to pick up the MBS 95 core mountain board for 270 with no taxes. The same board back in Alberta would have been around 500.
I’ll be heading to Hood River in a day or two, lots of kite shops there I hear. Now I’m looking for a kite to power the new mountain board. I was thinking the Ozone Flow 4m would be a good choice.

WINDZIP - I agree it's best to shop locally and I try to do so whenever possible. However where I live there is only one small kite shop with a limited supply. They don’t carry what I’m after so shopping locally that isn’t really an option. Further to that, with the Canadian dollar almost at par with the US dollar there are huge savings for Canadians to shop south of the boarder. The board I purchased is a good example of that.
