HQ Beamer and Control Bar
Hi,
While on vacation, I picked up an HQ control bar as I wanted to use it with my Beamer IV 3m. Unfortunately, the winds didn't cooperate and I didn't
get a chance to test the control bar.
So now a week later, the winds are nice and I hook the bar up (power lines on outside of bar and brake lines attached to center line). The first
thing I notice is that the brake lines appear to be pulled in very far and the kite will barely lift off the ground. With the winds a bit stronger,
the kite will fly, but is very sluggish.
My suspicion is that I was sold the wrong control bar for this kite. Doing some research, it appears that the HQ control bars being sold online are
four lines having two lines extending from the brake line. My control bar only has a single brake line ending in a loop to which both brake lines of
my Beamer are attached. Researching further, my control bar seems to match that sold with the Rush 3 Pro.
So I guess my question is this: Is it possible (and safe) to get an extension line that would run through the existing brake line loop of the control
bar and have each end attach to my Beamer's brake lines? This would have the effect of reducing the brake effect and having the kite fly faster and
not stall. Or am I screwed and need to purchase the four line control bar to use with the Beamer?
Thanks,
Alan

I do not sell the rush so I am not completely familiar with the bar, but you should be able to tie knots in the outside leaders of the bar and connect
your flying lines to the new knot to make the power lines shorter and in turn it makes the brake lines longer.
So if you are thinking of adding a 4 inch piece to the center lines ... do this instead. Tie a knot 4 inches closer to the bar on the outside leader.
Make sure you do both sides and they are equal. Then move your flying line connection point to the new knot, so the knot you had the lines on is now
just dangling out there.
Hope that makes sense.

Yea, sounds like you got a Rush control bar but all is not lost. Do like Dakite says and just add adjustable knots to your outside leader lines and
move your line attachment point in to those and try the kite. With the adjustable knots you can tune your kite to work fine with the control bar that
you have now.
The only difference between the Rush bar and the fixed bridle four line bar is that the center line of the four line bar has a pulley and short line
that runs back and forth through the pulley and attaches to each brake line. This gives you slightly better turning and a little smoother power but
it isn't enough of a difference to run out and purchase another bar just for that. If you are wanting to purchase another bar I would suggest the
Turbo bar from Ozone as it is a very nice bar and gives you even more control and speed.
Re-adjust the bar you have now and you should be fine.

Hi,
Thanks for the quick replies. I hadn't thought to shorten the power lines as it was visibly noticeable how much the brake lines had been shortened
before I started adjusting and moving the stopper knot/ball on the leash/brake line.
Hopefully I will get some decent wind this weekend to experiment further with the knots on the leader lines.
Regards,
Alan
