Safety Gear
A month new to kiting and have started out with the 3.5 Bullet by Flexifoil. Obviously in need of some safety gear but what is essential. I'm really
only fond of my wrists and head...and know that if I'm gonna invest in my safety it'll be the most money I spend (most likely). So what kinda gear
would be recommended and from where...
PS. Based in the UK so p&p is one problem I keep coming across

www.chainreactioncycles.com and www.powerkiteshop.com have free shipping throughout the UK.
Helmet, Elbow Pads, Knee Pads are the usual suspects for safety gear.
If you will be landboarding with the Scrub, you might want to look into impact/padded shorts.
There's always been some debate about wrist guards. Some people like them, and some people fear that in protecting the wrist, you leave yourself open
to more damage when the force of an impact travels up the arm. You kind of have to make that determination yourself.
For downhill and free-riding with a landboard, HillBilly Gloves with wrist support are fairly popular. With a kite, you might find that the "spoon"
that protects your palm gets in the way of holding the handles or bar on the kite.
There is actually some wrist gear that is easier to get in the UK than the US, but some of it is spendy. Are you on a short leash with regard to your
budget?

Hey, thanks for the quick reply...something I really like about PKF. I have a helmet already, a pass me down but still protects the noggin. I'll look
into the hillbilly gloves and the shorts. Price isn't too much of an issue, would rather pay good money for good equipment than cheap out and get hurt
later on.

Hey guys, took some advice and went for the brand spanking new ones on Chain Reaction Cycles, show off white =p Sorry Kamikuza, but I spent the $30 on
the item rather than pnp. But should be here soon, still need wrist guards and maybe impact shorts....still thinking about them.

MBS.com it is then...although I'm gonna try raiding the for sale sections of multiple forums first, no point spending extra if I can find it cheaper
used.

If you can't find the Hill Billy shorts on a forum. PowerkiteShop has them in large and extra-large. ATBShop.co.uk has all sizes listed. Call to confirm stock at both stores, in case there is a lag in website updates.

Due to pending website updates.... Hill Billy is currently using the MBS distribution channel.... actually they have been for several months now.
All domestic orders are being done directly from MBS or one of their retailers.
In the UK/EU, Hill Billy gear is being handled by MBS distributors and retailers, although I couldn't find the HB gear on the www.mbseurope.com site.
Run-on sentences.... :wee:

I had bought some hillbilly wrists a month or so ago... Ended up talking to the owner for a bit on the phone and he just sold the company as it was
getting too big too fast.
Good, well made gear - just wasn't made to fit this chica's small wrists so still on the lookout for some decent ones. pro design look real nice but a
bit too pricy and no hand protection.
Guess it's good news that SOMEWHERE, SOMEONE is getting ahead!
No kites left
Maybe someday I'll snowkite again
