Ivanpah Dry Lake teaser

We were in Vegas for a baseball tournament for my younger son this weekend and I got to show Ivanpah to the boys. There was no wind and I didn't have time or equipment to ride, but it was cool just to see that vast expanse of flatness. I'll have a visit there in December when I visit the vacationing parents. After being RIGHT there today just makes me want to put in some miles there that much worse. :ticking:

Consider yourself rubbed then! It's less than 5 months away and people from all over the world are making plans to come right now. I know for a fact you can hop in your truck and drive right out there with your buggy and all your gear. Frank and/or tridude could even be travelling buddies with you. Come on out and play!

Yea, Roc! It would be a blast but I have to see what the funds look like when we get close. The company would be great. We could rent a van and haul a trailer and split it all among 6 or so! Beverly Hillbilies style!

Well I would find this to be incredible. I can only hope it could work out for all. But like Pokite said, Funds and time will tell us.
But a bus would be wicked cool!! With a roof rack for the buggies!

I had no idea of getting this much thought going on NABX 11. It would be awesome to have a large east coast contingent this year. I lived kinda close to all you guys and never met much of anyone north of the Carolinas. I was hoping Angus and maybe tridude could make it along with a return of Phreerider. A dozen of you would be more than enough for an east coast camp to outdo those pesky Canadians and Northwesterners. Front row seats for the Rip/Dino show are on the house.

Ivanpah is truly an experience that a buggier shouldn't be without. Don't bother bringing your big kites either. I was overpowered every time I went out with a fixed bridle kite bigger than 3.5m.

I had a thread that grew into something pretty informative reflecting on my trip there this past spring. It would be great for a newcomver to read the things that were shocking to me and what the veterans had to say about what I learned. Link to follow.

I'd fly all my crap but I could prolly almost buy a buggy for what it would cost to fly or ship my bigfoot there and back.

Man I love driving across the country. I have done it many time over the past 30ish years. The old Rt 66 is the best way to go. Winslow Arizona, through the Volcano east of Flagstaff. So many cool sights to see. Never a dull moment on those trips. And to share it with the Cool Cats on here would just improve the trip.

Hmmm, red lake (dry lake bed) is just outside of Flagstaff, Eldorado Dry Lake Bed is just outside of Boulder City, then Jean, Roach and then Ivanpah. :) What a buggy trip that would be!

Yeah my last trip to NABX in 2009, I spent more on excess baggage charges than my own ticket (yeah, yeah AJ, I know, Fly SouthWest)

I wonder how much for a whole CSX Boxcar with a few stops along the east coast then direct west to 'Vegas???

While we were in Vegas, it seemed like SW sent out a plane about 4-6 an hour. They must dominate in Vegas.

Southwest has a main hub here in Vegas. Also, you can ship your gear to me here at the shop, saving you problems on carry on fees. We'll stage it here and you can pick it up when you get in. We'll also ship it back for you as well if needed (you cover the boxing and shipping costs of course).

CSX can move a ton of frieght 400 miles on a gallon of fuel.
I hate that add. It never says that they normally have 5,000 tons on the train. Thats 5,000 gallons for 400 miles.
Ok maybe not that much weight but you get the idea.
