PL Bigfoot Seat Mod

I was wondering if anyone has ever made a seat modification on a Peter Lynn Bigfoot buggy. I have one on order and (of course when you’re waiting for something like this) started thinking that it would be possible to give the thing a "Deep seat" like some of the other manufactures have done. I mean, I'm sure this buggy is going to perform very well as it was designed but that deep seat feeling seems as if it would be a real comfort and plus with the nature of the kite/buggy opposing forces.

The thing with the PL is that the siderails are horizontal and those deep seats you speak of usually go on a buggy that has a high peak bend that comes up under your arms. Look at any race buggy and you'll see what I mean. The deep seats are going to scrape the ground in the PL unless you do something custom to split the difference.

BeamerBob and cheezycheese Thanks for the input. I'm gonna ride the living daylights out of this bigfoot in its stock form then think about it.

Just cram your backside into the side of the seat you are being pulled to. It will hold you in pretty well and help build up those abbs!!

Seems like a lot of PL bug riders end up adding a back rest.

A backrest will help with that "deep seat" feel. Mine used key clamp "T" fittings over the side rails and bent electrical conduit. You will need a buddy with a tubing bender.

You can make it out in this photo...

i sat in POKITETRASH's bf with the back rest :bigok::bigok: four thumbs up!! major difference in feel and comfort. while it does lack the hi-arched siderail that Bob mentioned, it's about as close as you can get on a PL.

This is the plan I used to make the backrest on Angus's bigfoot (now tridudes). I think an improvement on the PL would be to put about 10-15 degrees of recline into it since the siderails are horizontal and that makes the backrest vertical, which isn't as comfy as it worked out on the Flexi rails.

This is the plan for a Flexi, like the one in my avatar (Drewculous's buggy now) and on Pokite's buggy.

Here's my Flexi-Foot with the backrest design from Beamerbob's post, PL seat with the Flexi sides. Makes a nice deep pocket. With the high sides, you can lock your elbow in when you need to hold on to big power surges or just look real cool.
