Video of Weldngod's wreck at Wildwood

Shot of Donnie aka Weldngod clipping a pylon and rolling out of his buggy at the Wildwood Buggy Bash fall 2010. ***No Welders were hurt during the making of this video....although the buggy did sustain a bent axle***

IIRC some of those pylons at Wildwood just barely accomodate the axle width of my std buggy, so squeezin between them in WG's custom bug was prolly alittle more shoehornish, it looked like maybe one of those unexpected gusts might have shifted him at the last sec., causing the accident. 'Course, in the heat of the run, sometimes inches are overlooked!

edit: or maybe the pink skirt....

Man Donnie that really was a good try. I do believe it was the skirt. I think the skirt must make things look bigger, The space I mean!!

Yeah that hurts when you misjudge the axle. I've guessed wrong trying to miss or straddle sand castles and the holes that are next to them.

Lucky the only other hazards here are the tidal pools that are always deeper than you think...

OK ,what happened is... I had been goin through these all morning, this time, right as I got past the point of no return. A gust pulled me sideways a little. Right as I realized I was going diagonally, I saw a bolt sticking out a couple of inches:shocked2:. I knew I was gonna clip it,I really thought it would deystroy the tire . But apparently Kenda Multi ribs are very tough, and it just bounced it sideways. When it slid to a stop, it rolled me out of the seat.....:wee:

We had to go and remove the wheel and straighten the axle in my hitch reciever! Not perfectly straight , but good enough to keep ridin that day:ninja:

And if that ain't good enough... I was trying to pass through an obstacle, just like the dudes in "men who stare at goats" and I lost concentration at the last second.... Or it was the curse of the "pink skirt"....

Seems like he comes out of there in almost every video. It's like he feels obligated to go big or go home. If he learns something in every crash, he must be the Wikiweldngod by now! Hope you got the axle back shipshape.

Yeah, you're right. Just so everone knows, I try not to do anything too crazy, but I will test the limits. I was not the only one who went through these contraptions. Usually we would go through the set that barely sticks up. This time the wind had me and I decided to shoot through the next set. This downwind jog allowed the wind to keep pulling me diagonally even though I was trying to straighten up. But I did not think I could make the first(buried) set. It seemed to me that I was gonna run straight into the pylons if I did that, so I chose to jog downwind to the next one. Oh well, that is what I wear all this safety gear for!

My daughter was videoing me a couple of days ago and I "buzzed" her. Forgot about how wide the back axle was and ran over her foot with my bigfoot tire. It was kind of funny and we both got a laugh about it, BUT, the reality was it was stupid and dangerous. If I had been 1 ft closer the axle would more than likely of broken her leg. That would of been a major turn off and may of even ended my budding kiting obsession. Dodged a bullet and lesson learned!!!
