A funny natural observation

Saturday morning, before going to the beach, I was walking the dog, and noticed flocks of geese blasting downwind in the already building gusts. As I was watching, sometimes a gust would blow a goose out of formation, and it would go tumbling into the goose ahead or behind, further disrupting the formation. I was standing there, looking up and laughing.:smilegrin:No wonder my neighbors think I'm crazy!:wee:

Work on your bicycle by hanging it from a tree because you don't own a workstand and they'll know you're crazy.

It is also possible you'll hear the unmistakeable tittering of small woodland animals.

Sam

If those Geese had De-power wings, gust would not cause them to crash into one another...lol

Bob you're out there seeing things because you're out there , not to be confused with being "out there" "seeing things." Are you sure you're not describing my family , my wife is like a goose , wakes up in a new world every day , bumps and bangs around the house, throws the whole flock out of wack.

Yeah, I thought maybe someone else had observed the same behavior, but I guess people don't look at that sort of thing anymore, too busy looking at their celly's. It didn't happen just once, but several times, with different flights of geese, so it wasn't just one poor flyer. I wasn't just chuckling, but laughing out loud, it was that funny. I couldn't help but think "what if one doen't recover flight in time, News Headline- Man Killed By Falling Goose!" @ WG, If I had taken video, and started crying at the wonder of it all, now that would be funny!

Mood: I miss kiting

[*] posted on 24-11-2010 at 01:24 PM

You are not alone, Bobalooie!

I was out and about the other day and noticed a very similar thing - and chuckled as well :)

I may have only been kiting since June but I have never been so tuned into wind conditions. In fact, I was in a business meeting the other day and totally missed the whole conversation as I was watching all the trees swirl out the window and wondering if anyone was crazy enough to go out in those winds.

Having withdrawls actually as I have not flown since... since... WW :(
(working too much to pay for these dang kites)

No kites left :(
Maybe someday I'll snowkite again

Well Bob, I don't think these things were common years ago but with all the chemicals in the food chain I don't think even the geese are feeling too well now a days

@ Dean, I hadn't thought about that aspect(chem), I just thought, if a goose can be surprised by a gust, no wonder I end up on my face!
@ Chud Ya gotta work, but you also gotta play!:Ange09:
