FS model comparison for surf with surfboards

Hi, Have quiver of PL's. Now researching FS for a light wind kite that will work best for me.I like medium float surfboards in surf.Want suitable model used.Cant log in to foilzone??Not activated and seems nothin will activate me. Ted Bautista advised 19m Speed 3.Gianni Piccolli advised 15m Psycho 4 but dont touch FS for year cause they are addicting like CRACK and i would dump my quiver of PL's. And what I read from FS website Sounds like 14m Pulse 2 was designed for the Surf?? Seems Foilzone tried to get reviews but not much was inputed for these latest Models. Albatross Mark

The pulse is FS's "surf" kite, and it's rather universally said that the 19mSpeed2(SilverArrow deluxe fabric) or the 19mSpeed3(Deluxe Fabric) are the go-to low wind machines when combined with a flydoor, users have said they are riding upwind in 7knots and jumping floaty jumps in 10knots with that combo.

you can also try kiteforum.com they have a rather active surf area = http://www.kiteforum.com/viewforum.php?f=1

P4 15 is a sweet kite and I might even say user friendly:yes:
Easy relaunch and 5th line safety..but not so good at drift launching:no:or maybe I am not so good at drift launching...

the p4 and pulse both work good for waves since they turn pretty quick (compared to speeds) and sit more in front of you.

the 19m and 15m psycho4 have better low end and fun factor than the biggest pulse or pulse2 kites

Thanx, Knowing me and what i wanna do and your inputs it seems Psycho 4 15m or Pulse 2 14m are my best choices. Kites that turn and can be worked and seems the Pulse was designed with water in mind??I dont wanna go big as too slow turning unless someone out there has flown a 19mCharger in 15-20 mph and a Psycho4 19m in10-15mph and says the FS turns similar. The 19m Charger turns GOOD. A. Mark -

I don't mean to be a butthead... but wait, maybe I do: What does this have to do with kites or gear 'For Sale?' Did I miss something, like you're looking to offload your PL quiver and that got edited out? In which case, I might be looking :)

If you have a general FS question, try posting in 'Kites and Accessories.' If you're looking to buy a FS, try posting in 'Wanted.' Most of us are guilty of thread hijacks or off-topic replies at times, but to my view this one started out totally wrong. Apologies in advance if I'm missing something.

So I had a Pulse2 14m for a bit while learning and then a p4 15m which I rode a lot. the P4 is a great kite, but in that size it can be funky, the tips flap around, if its punchy wind, the kite will punch open and shut. that being said, the P4 is definitely more performance oriented than the pu2. I think it has better depower, as well.

the thing about the Pu2 is that it is low aspect and simple. and they are fun. they willp4 t be punchy in gusts, but they aren't dynamically changing shape like the p4 triple depower does.

If you are going to be riding this thing 95% of the time in surf I'd go pu2. If you are 75/25 to 50/50 surf/free(style/ride) get the p4. If you are nearing the 50/50 mark and you have EVER said either of these things "I like Hangtime" -or- "I like to go big" -or- "I like oldschool", then you most definitely need a speed 3.

Now this is coming from a guy that has had pu2 10 &14, SA.5 17m, SA2 19m, P4 15, and a handful of tubies...

Wow! I hit the jackpot in help! But still wondering what is best for me now. Yeah bigsteve 100% seawater:been a surfer for 45 years.New to kiting, I like surfboards in surf with a PL. But PL's dont pull much under 15 mph.So many nice 8-14mph thermal mid days with nice smoother waves being missed...Figuring the right FS will get me off the beach and enjoying and make all these tube riders and surfers envious!! My hunch is i will like the 14m Pulse 2, lower aspect more like a PL and turn faster?Smaller than a 19m P4 but just power sine it and loop it? A Mark

you get even more help when you put posts in the correct forums, as Krumly already said.

Oooh Mark, i didn't realize you were trying to get out in 8-14mph. How much do you weigh? You are dancing dangerously close to needing a sped 3 in those conditions, esp in surf.

My limited surf experience is that it takes more power than usual to get out in surf due to the added terrain, froth factor, etc.

Only bummer of the speed 3 is that if you gave it an option of things to do, going downwind wouldn't be at the top of its list.
