parachute with ram air (halo)

Could a parachute be modified into a power kite. if so would it be worth the effort?

It can be done. The main risers go to your power lines. The handles that they pull are brake lines. Im just not sure if you could get enough throw on the handles. May have to make a set thats extra long. Someone on the Flexifoil forums was talkin about it some time ago.

Yes, easily. I've done it a number of times myself. I've got a spare 170 square foot canopy I was about to hook up for a laugh last weekend but didn't get round to it. (170 square foot = about 16 square meters).

Skydivers are known for doing this occasionally when the weather's not good enough to jump. Your success will depend greatly on what make parachute you have. They come in all shapes and sizes and just like kites, some are boats by comparison to others which are sports cars.

What make are you thinking of trying this with? How big is it? You have health insurance right?

Take a look at these pics for example (not me)
