Ozone Frenzy....the 'bad' years?
I've heard on numerous occasions that the ozone frenzy's had a stretch of 'bad' model year(s), anyone know what years/model they are referring to?

The only thing along those lines that I've ever heard about is some people say Ozone toned down the Frenzy when they started producing the Manta in
order to give people a reason to spend the extra on the Manta. I'm not saying that they did tone down the Frenzy, some people will see a conspiracy
anywhere. I don't know of any years where the Frenzy was "bad". I actually preferred the 2009/2010 Frenzy FYX to the 2010/2011 Manta M3. :dunno:

Ben, I hope you are not thinking you got a 'bad year' kite based on today's performance. Today's conditions, well, they sucked! The wind was
inconsistent, snow was wet, heavy and sticky. I was just looking at some of the raw video I took, and when the wind was in your kite, it had you up
and moving. Then, it would drop off, and since the board wasn't sliding well in the sticky, you would lose speed, and fall back. When I get the
video edited, you'll see what I mean. We've got to get better conditions, then you can judge.(It's gotta be a great kite, it's GREEN!)Glad you made
it up here, sorry the conditions weren't better.

No, I'm not suspecting my kite of being a lemon, conditions today in every way were crap, wind and snow. It was steering slower than I like but most
of the time was underpowered, thus slow....
I've been wondering about the Bad Frenzy question for a while now....

i researched the Frenzy a couple years back and found the model change from 05 to 06 was not entirely well received by some.
iirc one, of the many, particular aspect (i don't remember which) of the 05 was changed for 06 but people felt that that one particular aspect of the
05's model was better than the new version. other aspects of the 06 were an improvement though and i believe generally people liked the 06 model, as a
whole, better.

The only thing that comes to mind was when Ozone had a bad batch of control bars. This was a very small batch and once Ozone realized that the bars
had a defect, they replaced (free of charge) EVERY bar on that year's kites regardless if it was the actual defective bar or not. There have been
tons of changes from the first Frenzy to today's Frenzy, some of the changes were huge, others were very minuscule. Some people raved about the new
changes, others not so much - but all changes were done with the intent of making a better, more stable, more depowerable and higher performance
product. Personally I feel Ozone has done just that.
There were never any models that were considered "bad" or defective in any way. The Frenzy has always been the undisputed leader in the snow kite
market. It is like asking which year was the bad year of the Ferrari? There may be some that were questionable when compared to Ferrari's standards,
but they were still night and day better than the Hyundai's. The Frenzy can
easily be placed in this same class of production and performance.
