After talking to TDMC96 today I think this may be worth pointing out :

The 12m Farc is NOT a good beginer arc !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I speak from experience.

1st off it is a pain to fill. Use a cut open pop bottle in the inlet.

Launching may be the toughest of all arcs with the crazy long ribbon shape ! Or should I say bow tie material.

It is super fast and crazy lifty !

Land it on water and good luck! Get just a bit of water in it and you will almost never relaunch , or drain before bow tie.

This is my experience from owning this kite back in 06? I had very little depower experience at that time. When I could fly it it scared the crap out of me + almost injured me had I not been in water. I sold it in frustration.

Now the next catch. I regreted the heck out of selling it when I came back around to and learned how to fly arcs.

So .......... Go ahead and grab up the Farcs ! You'll never find a better deal ! Just be aware of what they are and maybe put them in the closet until you are ready for them ?

Good advice Blade. At the prices that RIp is dumping them it's a tempting thing for a beginner to snap up. I'm sure Rip is on it tho. =)

Kami, you have the mad skills son. I don't think I've ever seen a Syn bowtie.

I'm not a used car salesman or a flea market. So far the only people interest in the FArcs are past arc users and dealers. The plan isn't to sell 100 units to anyone. I make nothing from them as I'm just helping PL clean his closest.

In the sale post I also dug up the article where he talks about the FArc is for experts only. If you do need something to try I suggested the Arc some call it the S-Arc 1120 to learn on.

We have loads of C-Quads. I wasn't ready to post those yet as the phanny was keeping me busy and sorting out the backpacks. I need to see how many small and large venom bags.

YES ..... Those 1120's are the way to go INTRO ! I expect those will go fast .

I hope it wasn't percieved that I thought Rip' was going to unload these to just anybody without them understanding what they are buying . I know him far better than that. I was just seeing that a LOT of folks may see this as a cheap way to learn arcs. It was important to make it clear before you go running to Rip' that these kites aren't beginer friendly.

Poor Rip' will be Boxing well past boxing day. Better that folks get a good understanding about what they are after without Rip' having to interview every customer. At $100 each , he truly has to be doing this for nothing but the community!

Also important to point out how I regreted not putting mine away until I was ready for it. I still think they are the best deal I have seen in a LONG time. Even if you have to grow into them !

so should i buy one of these f arcs if i miss my 15m phanny??? similar characteristics... lifty as hell??? it was my goto cruising kite on my atb, though turned a bit slow for my taste on water

Dylan - Never flown the Phantom, but the Farc 1200 is lifty and fast, but a pretty slow turner. Launch on land is OK - I've never tried to launch or re-launch from water. It has a leech line that lets you play with tighteningt the TE, but it's nowhere near as rugged or simple to adjust as straps. Inverrt the kite and the line could tear into the ribs - lots of strain on the rib fabric without much reinforcement.

Let loose on the Cquads. Looking for the 6.3, 8.5 and that elusive 10+ we've heard about, but isn't in the literature. Would freak out the snowkites around here who pretty much only go with the latest tubes and a few Ozone flyers. Got enough old Arcs to play with...

6.3 and the 8.5 are available, but no 10 ... i heard about it but i dont think many were produced.

I had a 10 and the 12.5 C-Quad. Beast kites that were crazy huge. For land use the 8.5 is really all anyone would ever need unless you wanted to buggy in 1-2 mph.

Also, the F-ARC is a monster kite that is really not for beginners. The long ribbon shape will bowtie if you just look at it funny. It is awesome fast though and works amazing in the buggy. Probably the closest thing to a Phanny there is. The S-Arcs are much more tame than the F-ARC but one would need to remember that those were the very first arc's produced. Depower was ok but not nearly as good as the kites of today. In fact, they really didn't have that much depower at all. They need a super long bar to turn as steering was not very responsive. A bar in the 65 to 75 cm length was preferred. Don't even bother with a 50 cm or smaller bar. The work awesome and will be great for someone just starting out. The only thing I worry about is that someone will start out with one of these old pillows and get the wrong impression on how the newer twinskins really perform. Just remember it would be like comparing an old model T ford to a new Corvette. There have been huge leaps in improvements over the last 11 years of twinskin designs.
