NABX ATB info?

I've got a few questions about NABX, and I know you guys can help me. I know that the playa is racing surface, but I want to know a little more about what competitions or jams that go on. Should I be planning on a freestyle competition for atb? If that isn't going to happen maybe I should just plan on letting people demo my new gear and then doing some low level freestyle stuff. I'm gonna have to get some hillbilly pads since I usually fly on grass surfaces.

I hope to see you all there!

What do I need to to to register too?

Any new kite will be an old kite. Be prepared to see dust on everything, and tiny pin holes.
The PL Crew is bring tarps this year as a Landing Only zone. We nominated Ruudje from Xxtreme to catch. Hehehe.

As for demo, PL is there so it's not required.

If mBS shows up there will be ramps there.

I had thought about the tarp idea. I can bring one myself to add to the square footage.

and if you don't ride with body armor... this might be the one time you want to. wrecks while on a board on the playa have a tendency to be pretty freaking sweet. Your clothes will be mothballed and you will have some playa plague by the end of it. Oh and bring several extra tires, the side slipping really eats them up super quick. If you run out, you can always come down to the HQ camp, i know Kyle and I always have extra rounded and extra flat-tops.

From my limited NABX experience there hasn't been any ATB competeitions all though GI brought ramps one year ! Flexi one other.

You should organize one !

What ends up happening as much as not is folks end up doing a LOT of sitting around and when the wind picks up it becomes " every man for himself " for a while. When the wind REALLY picks up the men become seperated from the boys .

Phree' was out there tossing his Charger and himself around in winds that were too much for me. HE will definatlety give you the best 411 on ATB at NABX !

Kites: 2.5m Profoil , Quadrifoil XL kitesurfer, NPW 5 Danger.

Sweet! I want to run an ATB jam. Maybe not so much a competition as a show for everybody. Anybody want to be involved?

surface , like concrete with sand paper. ultra grippy. as soon as you dial in powerslides the tires go quick, if you're so inclined to run hard then brake hard.

IMHO the winds are smooth and can range fairly high 30+ WHEN THEY ARRIVE!...

the wind comes up , everybody starts zooming !. buggies/blokarts dominate the lines. and you can trek off for miles fin just about any direction the wind allows.

kill a cow and make some clothes !

the wind ..i would not call it gusty. but in flux most of the time with some steady 10-15 for awhile then rise to nuclear for 30 mins and smooth 15mph into the evening. not like here on a west 10mph then 35mph within same 30 sec.
i road CH 15 the entire time i was there (FRI/SAT) and only once was there a moment of a nuclear sketchyness.

the speeds, 40-50mph on land is doable and some thrill, really a brief experience but hey get a buggy and smoke some real speed with a bit lower risk.

i had a post reflecting this topic probably says about the same , anyway hope it helps

Looks like we'll be bringing down crazy John (if he manages to keep himself in one piece until then :shocked2:) so there 'll definitely be some boarding going on, if I manage to shed my pink skirt I'm in too :bigok:

Flyjump, hows it going??

Just a quick message, Myself and a few other UK riders are going to be running a freestyle competition at the event in partnership with NABX

Please take this in the good spirit it is meant - In the UK & Europe we have a good competition scene for the freestyle land sports, so we are looking to bring this over to the NABX event. We wont be competing BUT will be judging. We have experience of this having judged on the UK comp scene for the last 2 years.

What we want to know is what YOU guys want. Do you want to have heats where people advance through, would you rather have a 10 min jam, or best trick one after other......

This goes for both Buggy & landboard freestyle! I think the plan is to crown a US champ as I don't think you have any other comps out there atm??

Cheers

Craig

that sounds amazing. I really like the idea of jam sessions. I've judged lots of skateboarding competitions in the last 6 years at a local skatepark, and jam sessions seem to be everybodies favorite :bouncy:

Its still yet to be confirmed but if that is the case.

1 Option will be, run jam sessions, top 3 or 5 go into final to get placing etc....

Just keep an eye out and will put info up! Remeber we can work with everyone there to get it sorted easily!

But it will be done good! So if you are thinking about NABX, do it and get any freestylers too! In the UK we have different categories so if we get enough we can always do that too!
