Gin Eskimo 2007 .... advice please
I found brand new in sealed bag 2007 Eskimo for $300 RTF 6m and 8m for $350
There is not much info on the web about those kites..... but when reading european pages looks like they are very popular there with good ratings...
Did any one use one of them ???
I have 12m PL Synergy that is too powerful for me at this moment.... so I'am thinking about getting 8m for my self and 6m for my girl.....
Any suggestions ???

Gin makes some fine equipment, its mostly a euro brand so there limited available here. There was a review on the Eskimo III in the last PowerKite
Magazine, all with good ratings.
The man behind Gin is Robert Graham, remember him - Quadrifoil C and X series.

Kober -
A former poster here on PKF has a brief review of the Eskimo:
http://www.powerkiteforum.com/viewthread.php?tid=9218
Sounds like a score at the price, especially if complete. Surprised Rip didn't mention Arc vs depwoer bridled foils rules of thumb, so I will: Arcs
have much less projected area than depower foils, so they don't equate size for size. Really rough and approximate, a depower bridled foil may work
in the wind range of an Arc sized 1.5 -1.7x bigger. It's not as simple as that, and there are threads on this in PKF- search if you want more info.

Most likely a deal, I'd grab em. 2007 is new enough that the safety systems should be new-tech enough to give you no problems.
Tide? What's a tide? Man, it's 1000 miles to any ocean.

Great kites! I have the 6m and 14m Gin Eskimos. Good quality and well mannered depower foils. Not fast turners for their size, but very stable. They
are great snow kites and work well with the buggy. The 6m has been my go to kite lately..
Well worth the price. I think I paid $400 for the 6m and $500 for the 14m NIP last year from a local Swedish fella that was a distributor until
around '07. I see your in N.J. and I'll guess he's the seller here also. I know he still had a few.

We can use the company down here if you don't want to kite alone. Not many snowkiters in N.J. Just me and another local guy I know of around here.
The more the merrier.
Maybe we can get Rando on the snow this year ;-)
When we get snow...and wind, we meet at a local county parks field. About an hour south from you off GSP Exit 105.
If you skate, we also sail The Navesink River in Red Bank if/when we get ice. That's where my wind addiction started.
In regards to the kites, start out with the 6m Gin. The 8.5 may be close to your 12m PL powerwise.
Launch with the power strap loose (depowered) and from either side of the window (not straight downwind). Can't use a stake if the ground is frozen
so you may need a sandbag or two on the kite when setting up. Check bridle for tangles and pullys spin free before launch.
To launch just take a few steps back. In light winds you may have to also grab the center lines and give a pull.
To land, grab the outer/brake lines and pull them back and down. Kite will backstall and come right down. Keep the lines pulled in and stake the
rubber coated line that runs between the brake lines. He's a video from Belmar Beach with the 14m Gin. At the end you can see the landing.

I was right where you are last year, new to depower with the Gin kites, and could'nt wait to fly. I did alot of static flying and scudding before
putting anything under my feet. It was intimidating then and still is sometimes. Dress warm and be safe and most of all have fun.
