One should always be a little suspect when one's performance review starts wandering and talking about everyone else in the office.
This was of course the year that my vacation days was supposed to bump up to the next tier.
Still feeling very gut-punched... doesn't help that we just put out a fair chunk o' change to have the chiminey re-lined (guess that's better than CO
poisoning).
Broke the bad news to my girlfriend right after I got out of the meeting.
Hardest part is going to be avoiding the "deer in the headlights" syndrome. Office is closed tomorrow and I am home... time to give the ole resume
the spit and shine and and start getting them out.
Already put out requests for letters of recommendations and references.
Really wanted to kick back a little tomorrow... but there are little furry mewling mouths to feed.
This is a how a kite feels when the wind dies. Gribble.
ATB,
Sam

So, I bought myself a couple new gear bags for Christmas and an Army surplus flight suit yesterday to cover my work duds when I hit the field after
work. Sometimes you got to be Santa for yourself! The hints for the Six Six One body armor must have translated to wife-speak as Shirts, Pants,
Underwear and Socks (yup --underwear and socks -but they had HD on them so they're cool!) Did get an armored motorcycle rain suit so I guess what she
actually heard was "Blaa Blaa kite, blaaa bla bla bla Armor, blaa blaa blaa blaa kite, blaaa blaa...."
I'll order my body armor Next Friday....

I finally got to give my man the 2011 9m frenzy... Opened it up and boy it is georgeous! I can't wait to fly... Er, him to fly it.
As for myself, i got a gopro helmet hero and at the last minute got one for Anderson too (so he wont feel left out.)
Got myself some MX pants too for the buggy (planned birthday gift) and the ATB.
Yes, we are all ready to let the fun begin.
Hope everyone else had a great Christmas as well!!
And Sam, sorry to hear the news -- hopefully the new year brings you a bunch of new opportunities and many great job offers.
No kites left
Maybe someday I'll snowkite again

Sorry to continue hi-jack....
i made a cheap chiller by taking an old mini fridge and drillng
1" holes on each side. then i put a 5gal. bucket inside filled
with water. i then ran the water return hose through the holes in the fridge that i drilled into a coil that layed in the bucket of cold water. was
cool because i could keep foods nearby also. and i believe the fridge drew very little electric....
wish i could draw a diagram...
Sam,
very sorry to hear, but i can relate. my hours were cut to 1-2 days a week Dec.9. right after i dropped a few grand into my car... :ticking:

Lets all send some positive employment vibes out to Sam and Marc and hope 2011 brings more work and better pay to all. Too many people without work
and many including myself are working harder for less money.
So from my daughter, a #1 dad note pad and pen set and from my son, an LED flashlight. Darling wife and I didn't exchange gifts this year, but I did
get a cool WWBB calender from Santa.
Happy New Year!

After reading this I have realized just what was my greatest gift. I started a 3 year contract in Dec. Meant I had to leave my old company of 20 years
but 3 years is pretty huge security for an electrician.
The trip back home and the whole family together for the 1st time in years.
Life is GOOD ! Happy box / kite day !

Trust me, we got the balance of your snow.
Spent most of the day shoveling walks, porches, deck, runs for the dog, and driveway. Late in the day we went over to help my girlfriend's father
with some shoveling.
Both cars were encased in about 6 inches of snow with about 2 inches of ice underneath that. One of the scrapers just flat out shattered, and it was
fairly beefy.
I still need to put in some more time to get my girlfriend's car squared for the morning and clear some re-freeze, but I am taking a breather....
well, just cause. Need to snag some Aleve before going out again.
Back in the 40's by the weekend. Expecting repeated cycles of slush and refreeze throughout the week... gribble.
ATB,
Sam

50mph. A bit chilly I'd say!!

We got close to 30" here on the Northern Jersey Shore. One of the worst I've seen. Spent 8am-9pm behind the snow blower today. Dug out us, 2
neighbors, and the Monster-in-law. The heavy slush on the bottom is the killer.
The snow here started 10am Sunday and stopped around 6am this morning and some of the local major highways are still closed tonight in spots with
abandoned cars and trucks scattered all over. Many of the drivers were stranded all night. Two friends took snow mobiles and got a few to "higher
ground" this morning. Tonight I saw a few big state/county plows stranded with all the others. What a mess.
