Actually, this is about cheap ski goggles ...

My nice expensive Oakley O-frames that I bought 4 years back and used for one season ... I pulled them out of my boots bag and when I put them on, the foam padding just fell off like it had rotted or something.

So I dug out the $20 jobbies I bought 8 years ago and used for 4 seasons - they almost look new ...?!?!

Bah humbug.

If you contact Oakley and ask nicely, they should provide you with a free foam replacement kit. Not sure about postage.

Camping foam matresses can be had for cheap and should provide you with unseamed replacements for years... a layer of fleece or Coolmax will help sweat freeze.

FWIW: Despite the price, the sheer logic failure in some of Oakley's production/construction decisions just flat out boggle the mind. Still, I wouldn't turn down a pair of Romeos.

i almost thought Kami was trying to talk himself into a new pair of zeal goggles and new kites.

Oakley does have a good customer service and do a lot of freebies. they replaced my Vented Jacket lens for free even though it was my fault (pebble hit the lens when biking to work)

Means cleaning off the adhesive & gunk and then reapplying - literally not worth my time in dollars per hour FFS :o and what's more - the cheap ones, I used to carry with me cos they had better anti-fog when the temperature dropped below 10°C

I had a few of Oakley's through the years ... a couple pair of Frogskins (lost, stolen, stolen), Trenchcoats (lens coating peeled off), E-wires (lens coating peeled off WTF?), Sub-zero's (the Unobtanium rubber bits melted?!?!) and have given up on them - $30 glasses from Costco for the win! 2 pairs in 3 years still ahead of the game

Oh and - same goes for gloves - my real expensive Fox MTB gloves just wore through a couple of fingers today - I've used the $9 tool shop gloves (with flames!) for about as long and they show ZERO sign on wear ... someone in China is setting me up

If Oakley has a foam replacement kit, I expect the adhesive comes off pretty cleaning with the judicious use of some wet heat.... if you don't like the goggles, judicious use of explosives or sundry pyrotechnics is all acceptable. Blast radius on a typical aerosal can is pretty impressive . However, eye safety wear requirements when blowing up things prompts the whole chicken/egg dilemma.

Gave up, bought some new ones ... $90 Axe goggles. After 2 sessions, there's moisture between the double lens and guess what - the foam is falling off. Took them back to the shop and am waiting for ... something ... FFS!

I have a pair of oakley o frames i bought in 2002... They still work great. The only reason I replaced them is because there is a crack in the middle of the lenses. That and they fog up every once in a great while.

Bought a pair of oakley a-frames with the fire iridium lenses to replace them with. Love them.

please everyone keep buying them ALL cheap or $$$.

i find them all the time in water /surf / beach.

currently the count is up! somewhere around 2 dozen.

in the past i have purchased O's , i think about 7 pairs maybe 10 years ago and still have them all. O will make good on products . $15 gets fresh ones if the fail, best i remember.

you should see the designer ones i find! my wife takes them all cat quick! esp. the super big ones.

i have lost 2 pair within the past 3 years on the water .

currently down on the flip flops though. cubian are may favs,((please buy!) ..what a mountain of blow outs, and this is a no crocs zone even if the wash up i just see as garbage nothing to harvest there..

I still have the Maui Jims I bought at the Sunglasses Hut in the World trade Center. Every few years I send them in for a fix-up for $60 and get essentially a new pair. Only set that I somehow have not lost.

Really? I've had replacement lenses for a beloved pair of Trenchcoats from Oakley but customer service in Japan is pretty crap at the best of times - I'm betting my goggles get sent back with a "Sorry!" note and that's it
I don't mind wear and tear on the lenses - with use! - and I get that foam is going to rot eventually but FFS they hardly got used!

Got word back from the shop ... they "replaced" the padding but didn't say anything about the lens I'm betting the just glued the bits coming off, back on. Nothing was said about the fogging double lens

Wife said ... use them this season then buy some Oakleys or whatnot in the end of winter sale :D
