Stormboarding site still says "Kitestorm 2012 will be Feb 25-26"

Maybe someone will pick up the ball and get to work on a "big" event like years past, or we can just plan a smaller meetup that weekend, or another weekend conditions are good.

That news is depressing , I love Kitestorm. Maybe a gathering in the the middle of Mass. It would be more central to to most participants I would think. I know I'm up for at least one or two mid-winter adventures. Lake Sunapee looks kite friendly.

We have a large (for CT) lake here as well called Lake Pokatipoug. Lots of snowmobiles, but Ice boats as well. I plan to head there when it freezes as often as I can. I'll post how it is.

Well, there's always the Tug Hill! Festival will be MLK weekend, but any weekend with snow/wind will do! Also the lakes in your neck of the woods, snowspider. We'll be riding! (or trying, in my case... lol)

No doubt Oneida is good, huge lake , lots of access points that allow good kiting with winds from any direction ,almost always snow covered in February ,easy to get to from rt81 or rt90, 3 places have large plowed parking lots , Turning Stone casino at one end ,Syracuse at the other. Everybody chime in , Oneida lake is very doable.

Winter Kiting Festive- perspective

"People can still show up on the dates..." is exactly right.

Just Go! You got everything you need to have fun.

Any more formal than that someone one has to take the reigns. But nobody has to take the reigns more than just to post an intent to show up on a date a place! See who wants to join.

Deep down I think people like the officialness if not the organization and scheduling of activities for social event as motivation to attend.

Mood: ready to ride...

Oneida is an amazing place to ride. When the conditions set up right, it can truely offer some of the best riding in the area. Please keep us posted on ice depth and snow depth when the time comes.
