Kiting With a Skimboard
i have heard about some people using skimboards with kites has anyone done this? is it worth getting a skimboard for?
im not really looking to buy a kite board im just more of looking for somethinng to use when im on vacation and the beaches are too crowded to
land-board
if i buy one i would plan on buying the stomp pads that have the foot strap mounts so i can take them on and off
Kites:
T-foil Trainer
HQ beamer 2m
Pansh Ace 5m (1st edition extra lifty)
Peter Lynn Venom 10m
Rides:
K2 Snowboard-K2 auto bindings-DC boots
GI Prodigy 2010 Gold and Black Vegas hubs
Wants:
A Machine that makes wind
Wind is like a drug: many people are addicted to it, too much of it and you could end up dead or in the hospital, too little of it and you\'ll go
crazy, and just the right amount makes for a good time.

I've done this, mostly early on (2000 or so). Still see lots of skim boards at certain places.
Keep in mind that it isn't like usual skim boarding, where you are on a thin layer of water. Gotta go into water with some depth, so you can edge
against the kite. Otherwise, the kite just falls out of the sky.
No real need for straps.

Yes skims are very fun. They allow you to go very far upwind. Best used with stomp pads. And water shoes/barefoot.
2. Lightwind ability
3. Affordable
4. Unique riding experience
5. FUN

I saw a bunch for sale over the holidays for around $100 and almost bought one, but wasn't sure if there was something special about a kite specific
skim. Looks like it could be a blast once you got the hang of it. I'd better learn to ride a regular board on water first though.

No it was at a gas station along the highway on Vancouver Island B.C. I think that even on flat water a skim could prove a good time with or without
kite. Tried my kids little one at the lake and I definitely was too heavy......but the kids on the other hand could get out a good 10-15 feet.

you gotta have a flat spot to work it. chop just kills it. def fun though. the fails will ALWAYS keep the skim sessions short. flats spots,
tidal pools are fun but a couple inches of water , like here ....a few hip shots, skinned knees and tweaked shoulders and its over. most skim is fun
for sure, the bigger the board the better. light air kite skills need quick and smooth or its gonna pull you over .
big flat lagoon type, all day no problem, but beach and surf edge what a beating!

CJ , I was thinkin about trying a" wakeskate "cause they have fins that would be more like a kiteboard. Check them out too.

i was thinking about that and I've also been looking at kiteboard I'm not sure why but I'm still leaning toward a skim board
half of the reason I want it is for something to play with when the wind is in absence
but at the same time i want to be able to head out on the water when the beaches are crowded and maybe bring my venom and skim along when my family
goes on vacation to the bahamas
