Anyone hitting the Coupe de Quebec?

Trying to get my act together and head up. Wondering if anyone else is going.

It'll be a good event/race - just bad timing for me to make it. The Quebec boys are big time winter kiters and should have a good turn out being south of Montreal. There will be a few friends there thatI haven't seen in years.
hey Blake - that would be a nice little road trip for you to get some ideas before the Elmhirst kite weekend coming up at the end of the month.
Good luck if you go Chris - looking forward to a report and photos.

I'm there :wee:

The first event is presented in Venise-En-Quebec on Lake Champlain near the USA boarder this weekend

http://www.facebook.com/notes.php?id=174967212535303&not...

But forecast so far is not looking good.

http://www.windguru.cz/int/index.php?sc=160

Surface conditions: ICE and ICE. We did not get much snow this year yet. It's very bad. Many of us are building blades for our snowboards now.

Saturday no wind may be 4-5 knots. Sunday not looking good either

Having fun with LOTS of friends will be that !!

More and more riders are getting Flysurfer Speed2/3 here because the races sometimes happen with little wind.

Friend Simon Gill (2008 and 2010 WISSA champion) will be racing this year again. Simon has new racing skis 238cm long. I kited with him last sunday. He's fast.

http://www.simongillkite.com/en/index.php

Since last year in light conditions, Simon flies the russian ELF ZERO-SW 16m kite.

7.4 aspect raio, 63 cells, a BEAST !

http://www.kite-site.ru/zsw.html

Simon expects to travel to Finland WISSA 2011 late February to defend his title. He also plans to go for a race in Russia.

238cm speed skis, very nice. Ice and ice, also very nice.

Ricardo I'd be tempted to take you up on the offer if it were'nt such short notice. Although the F-Arc might be able to hold her own too in the light stuff if it's an ice surface.

But I'll have to keep an eye on the wind situation.

That Elf kite looks beautiful.

Thanks Richard. I would have given you more notice if I had more notice. Someone tipped me off at the last minute and the timing couldn't be worse.

Damn low winds. Having the right tool for the job pays off big in low winds. That race last year at Kitestorm was low winds and working the 19m Charger against the Silver Arrows was brutal. Big Blu or the F-Arc would have made my life a lot easier.

I'll finish repairs on my backup skis today and maybe I'll head up tomorrow. Tough to leave over a foot of fresh pow with wind in the forecast for boiler plate and a low wind forecast.

I can't make the Valentines gig as I'm commited to helping at Girlstorm that weekend but thanks for the tip Denis.

Apart from Simon Gill's ELF kite, it was mainly dominated by riders with flysurfer Speed2 and Speed 3
