Kite Questions(venom 10)

tomorrow looks like it might be my first day on my new kite

what exactly is the wind range on a 10m Venom? the winds are expected to be 20mph is that too much?

also i foudn that theres and adjustable strap on the inside of the kite i see that its all the way loose when and why should i tighten it?

what does a stopper ball do? do i need one?

any and all information will be apreciated =]

also there is probably goign to be some snow do you think i could ride on a sled with the kite?

Kites:
T-foil Trainer
HQ beamer 2m
Pansh Ace 5m (1st edition extra lifty)
Peter Lynn Venom 10m
Rides:
K2 Snowboard-K2 auto bindings-DC boots
GI Prodigy 2010 Gold and Black Vegas hubs

Wants:
A Machine that makes wind

Wind is like a drug: many people are addicted to it, too much of it and you could end up dead or in the hospital, too little of it and you\'ll go crazy, and just the right amount makes for a good time.

I'll let a better arc user answer the arc questions, as I can't, but...

Stopper Ball - moveable ball on the center lines in the space between bar and adjustment straps. This sets "max depower", how far out(away from you) you can send the bar before it stops. No, you don't 'need' one, but they can be nice if you have a long-throw bar and shorter arms. No, I'd not recommend adding one if your bar does not have one.

Sled- Yes, you could get in a sled and get dragged by the kite, but unless it's steerable somehow you're only getting dragged downwind.

Oh, and by "steerable" i mean something more than a little plastic brake you put down to turn to that side. I mean a flexi-flyer (rosebud, for those of you who have seen Citizen Kane) or sno-kart.

There's another stopper ball that gets involved with the safety release. You set the stopper ball up on the leashed line to stop the bar from flying all the way to the kite yet still allowing the kite to flag out. Do you need one of these? Nope. I have one....in the bag. I never bothered installing it 'cuz I never really had an issue with the bar going too far on me.

For the wind ranges - bookmark this site:

I think you should find the 10m to have quite a stunning wind range - just be mindful of where you put it in the window. Have a blast!

One more thing - if there's not enough snow to strap the snowboard on but enough for a sled I bet you'd have a slip-slidey boatload of fun on the GI.

The adjustable strap at the center of the trailing edge? Tunes the kite for the wind conditions, or for your preference for more or less 'grunt.' Looser, the kite flies faster in light winds. Tighter, the trailing edge is pulled in and the kite develops more static pull, but doesn't fly as fast and as far to the edge of the window. Try it in the middle or slightly loose and go from there. Have fun.

well i went to the field today and there was too much wind and it was too cold and the kite would launch without bowtieing because some of the lines were tangled
