IVANPAH Buggy SOLD

When I bought this Ivanpah, I fully intended it to be the last buggy I ever bought. However since plans always seem to change, I have arranged to purchase Popeye the Welder's buggy that he is bringing over for NABX. I know tax refund checks will be available soon, so get yourself a really safe and fast buggy for a bargain.

This buggy was purchased in early summer 2010 and being stainless, is as good as a new one right now. To date, this is the only brushed finish Ivanpah buggy ever built. If you scratched the finish, it would be easy to restore to an even brushed finish. This buggy can last you a lifetime.

I've been over 38 mph with this buggy on a beach on the Outer Banks of NC and it was a peaceful easy feeling with no stress or instability. A few weeks later, I was riding with Angus on Jekyll Island and realizing I was all tensed up with an 8.6m Reactor II pulling hard, decided to see if it was necessary to be tense. At 32 mph I gradually lifted my feet off the pegs and the buggy didn't even notice. It just kept on in a straight line as it had been. Unlike other buggies, if you get overpowered you can just let the kite drag you sideways. The siderails are high enough to just let the kite pull you with all tires sliding while you ride out the gust. I've always felt very safe and secure in this buggy.

Ivanpah website

Pricing:
Buggy with seat, pads, and all hardware with barrow tires: $1500
As above with Bigfoot lite tires as pictured instead of barrows: $1750
Above but with both barrows and BF lites included. $1825

Splash guard custom made for Ivanpah by Buggy Bagman (also made the seat) available for $75

I'll throw in an official Ivanpah walk of shame/tow strap with purchase.
My buggy would be available Saturday night April 2nd if you are at nabx. If not there, I can ship it out to you after returning home. I will split shipping charges with the buyer (If shipped) Shipping was $42 to me in Northern California from Las Vegas without tires. Prices may vary.

What a nice snag! Both the Ivanpah and Popeye's buggy. You are a lucky man! Congrats!

Thanks Rich. Yes, I've felt lucky to have the Ivanpah since the day I got it. I would buy another one if for some reason I wasn't able to get Popeye's buggy.

I'll also point out if it wasn't clear, that this buggy can run either barrow tires or the bigfoot tires. There are pictures of it both ways in flickr.

My problem with the Ivanpah... I park it on the beach and point the front wheel to the side to keep it from rolling on the gently sloped beach, but gravity alone will self-center the wheel (it's that stable) and off it goes towards the Atlantic. Gotta tell Kent to build in a parking brake. The thing is like a lazy-boy recliner on railroad tracks.

It's interesting to examine the tracks on the beach after being dragged sideways at full speed when over-powered with nary a care. gotta get pics of the rooster-tail's flying off the tires.

Angus,

Get a kite stake and run a bungee cord from the kite stake to the small holes in the front axle plates, use a carabiner on the stake and just hook the hooks into both sides of the front fork. That will keep the buggy where you left it. We do the same here on the lakebed as the winds will blow your buggy away in the night.

Those extra holes also make the perfect place to hook onto when strapping your buggy to the truck.

We just kick a little sand behind the tire to keep it from rolling down the beach, works for me so far! Might not be so easy on the hardpack I guess!

That buggy is a very sweet ride, and so far is the only buggy I have made with the brushed stainless look. It came out awesome!

The price on this buggy is a super great deal as retail, this buggy runs over 2K without the extra's that Bob is throwing in.

Someone should snatch this one up quickly. This buggy is made for NABX and speed!

I really look forward to expanding my limits I had last year in a smaller lighter buggy to the opportunities available to me this year at Nabx in this ultra secure and stable buggy.

Congrats Gary, you will be spoiled forever getting a nice buggy like this early on. You should progress quickly not having to be timid because you're worried about getting dragged off of or out of the buggy. You could get in trouble with this one but you'd have to really mess up worse than you would a basic buggy.
