mostly a rev flyer and addict but have a few flys on several power kites and buggys without too much trouble or issues in 10-15mph winds. Never flown larger than 5.0m. Looking for something with a nice lift. I keep hearing that Blades are all about the lift.

The lift is the fun part.. the drop is what sucks. Do some research and Maybe you wont end up with titanium ankle and femur like Myself . :)

Blades are all about creating broken ankles. Be very, very, very, very, very careful with one if you get it.

It's not the fall that gets you... it's the sudden deceleration.

Anyway - back to the regularly scheduled beamer ad. ;)

If youre after lift there are other kites that will still lift but are more forgiving than a blade.

Yeah, For merely warning an obviously new guy to be careful about a line of kites designed for advanced kiters, I earn this u2u message? Color me something other than impressed.

I've flown a blade. I was incredibly impressed with the power it delivered at all times, and superman'd me hard with only a 4m despite my best efforts otherwise. I wholeheartedly apologize for not breaking my ankle with it.

Is the blade an advanced kite? yes, kiteetik said so himself, and I certainly agree. Did anybody ever get hurt by being warned to take care? No.

you know, spoke to a friend who owns a kite shop and has over 20 years flying exp. and first thing he told me is blades are dangerous and he almost got hurt real bad flying one in a buggy and will never fly one again. I thought he was just messing with me or looking out for me. Seems that you guys say the same thing about a blade also. Must be a wicked powerful kite and without lots of fly time and exp. you could get real hurt real quick. There is something exciting about that, but i dont want to get hurt either. After review, looks like the peter lynn twister is a great kit for lift also and about half the price of a blade, any thoughts????!!!thanks for the replys!

I just got my Twister in the mail and haven't flown it but from what Ive seen and heard it is a forgiving, stable and predictable kite. After doing more research I decided to give it a try. That being said, I have also owned a Ace 5m and that thing would pull and lift like a truck and was slow turning for me. Starting out, I would also stay away from the Ace.

Don't just label the Blade as dangerous. It (particularly the IVs) is a fantastic kite, both in the way it looks in the sky and the control you have over it. The 6.5m VI is the only kite I ever sold that I wish I still had. The 6.5 had the turning speed of a typical 5m kite. It could be dangerous in inexperienced hands in the wrong conditions but an absolute joy to fly in winds correct for the size kite and flier. My then 12 year old son flew my 6.5 regularly, but granted, he was an experienced and talented flier. I started a lengthy thread about the Blade after my first experience.

Beamer... I think you said it best here... "The Blade turns more like a 5m kite. And it isn't a persnickity race kite either. It blends the power and lift of the highest ends of kites, with the stability of a beamer. It's like they found a way to maximize both aspects instead of picking one. That is the magic here. No other kite I've flown (limited) has had both ends of performance and stability in equal doses." There are so many opinions on the Blades. Safe, Dangerous, Easy to handle, Hard to control. As someone else put it in an earlier thread, "you dont see too many used Blades for sale" so there must be a reason everyone who buys one keeps it......

Guys, correct me if I'm wrong, but with all the labels and ppl's reviews about different kites, isn't a true statement to say, that ALL kites, from 2m to 20m and up, are equally dangerous in the hand of a non experienced pilot ?
This sport is fun, addictive, colorful and what not BUT and LIKE ANY OTHER SPORT when you don't know what you're doing, fun can become painful very fast.
I think label a kite as dangerous is wrong, not fair to the manufacture (and I'm not representing anyone) and not fair to a new guy/girl, try to get their feet into that sport.

I got $5 that says this is a false statement, though it would be glorious if it were true. (I have no idea why you wasted a moment to begin with, I certainly wasn't talking to you, nor did I insult you.)

Yes, and I've apologized to him in pm for somehow bringing drama by simply warning him to take care.

I have a 7.5 Mosquito Pro ks rtf in pristine condition, super lift and float in as low as 8mph and pulls like a 12 mtr tube, way better than a Blade IMO.I'll trade and pay shipping on both kites.
