Car Question - Scion xB
Anybody out there have any experience with the scion cars- i am looking at a 2005 scion xb (the little box car) as a kiting car and commuter vehicle.
I am tired of spending $60 every few days to fill up my truck and want a little compact that can still carry some stuff as well as get decent gas
mileage- these suppossdly get 30-35 on the hwy which is alot better then the 14- 15 i get in the truck. Open to any other ideas someone might have as
well
thanks

I have a 2011 Xb and love it. However it does not get anywhere close to 30-35 MPG lol lets try 20-25 tops, now I do have a heavy foot:saint: but it
does not make that much of a differance. It holds all of my kites and then some, with the Buggy on the back.

get a mini cooper. I had one and could fit the flexi buggy in the back with the wheels off. Plus it got 40mpg. Traded it in for a Toyota Tundra and
am feeling the gas pain now....oh well it's tough to build a house schlepping lumber in a mini...

Since others are suggesting other rides, you should check out a Honda Fit. I routinely get 38-40mpg (best has been 43mpg) on road trips to the coast,
have never dipped below 30 mpg in the city, and can fit all of my kite gear in there including my buggy (wheels off). The rear seats folding flat
really give you a lot of space inside. If I'm gonna take my buggy but want more room inside, I just hook my bike rack up to the car, set my buggy on
it, and go.
Edit: Threads I made with pics gear in the car:

The Audio A3 TDI and VW Jetta TDI get great mileage if you have deep pockets.......

Geo/Chevy/Suzuki Tracker/Sidekick, 25-30 mpg, cheep, boxy, 4 WHEEL DRIVE. I have a 1992 2 door that I can fit my buggy on the spare tire. Fantastic
for getting out in the dunes to fly.

+ 1 on the FIT. My hemi dodge truck gets 15 on ethanol gas. I too was thinking the Scion but in florida, they priced themselves out of my market. I
found the Fit by accident. I took my longest kite board and tried it out. the mako king fit with no problems. My over all mileage as been 35mpg for
the 6 weeks i've owned it. The Highest has been 39.2 and lowest 33.9 there's a good Fit forum fitfreak.net the fit has no maintenance issues.

I have a 2006 Scion Xa (competitor to the Honda Fit) and it's been great. It's got the same engine as the Toyota Yaris. You open the hood and it
says Toyota. I get around 32 mpg average. Plenty of room when you fold down the back seat. The dash is a little weird since the instrument panel
is in the center. You get a clear view of the road since the insrument cluster is missing. The sitting position is like driving a minivan. You
basically walk in a sit down since the seat height is very high. The Xb version just have a larger rear cargo then the Xa but basically the same.
The Xa gets better gas mileage since it's not so boxy. I paid $15K drive out when it was new and it's worth every penny.
