New to this

I am new to power kites. I have flown stunt kites for a few years and my uncle wanted to get rid of his power kite. He said it was too much for him. Also he showed me a few videos of Kite Jumping. So I figure I would give it a shot.

Anyone know of any groups/people that fly kites around Sierra Vista, AZ?

Hello! :D

Well, you certainly came to the right place. :) Please, do tell us about the kite you have. Make, model, year, size, etc.

Oh, and read this.

And this!

And most definitely, this.

It is a Prism Stylus P4.

Thanks for the extra info. I will read over it a few more times.

I have already started jumping. It took some time to get a feel for it by flying in light winds. Last Monday, was the first real flight winds were like 25-35 mph. So I got a few good jumps in along with a few good crashes. One time, I have the lines ripped from my wrist and had to chase it down.

I have 15-20yrs exp flying dual line kites. I am not sure I want to take the next step and learn quad line.

Also, I am kinda looking for something a little bigger that will give me a rush in lower winds.

Welcome,

I think you want to REthink things a bit.

4 line is the only logical way to go if jumping is your goal.

Jumping isn't something you do in 2 days !!!!!!!

A 4m Prism is about the worst kite for jumping you can choose.

You represent all of us when you lose total control of your kite . Get a kite killer for that thing !

Sorry !

Kites: 2.5m Profoil , Quadrifoil XL kitesurfer, NPW 5 Danger.
Flexifoil: 1.7m Sting, 4.9m Blade 3, 9m Blade 2.

Alright you talked me into it...well sort of.

I read that I can turn my Prism into a quad line. All I have to do is buy the bars and lines. Hopefully with a little bit of practice I can get used to a quad line. If you have any suggestions on bars/lines please link them.

As for the kite itself, I am going to stick with it till I out grow it. Maybe in a month or two depending on time/weather.

When it comes to jumping, I think it is just in my blood.

Thanks for the help.

Sounds good,

check out the instructional pages Angus put together here . www.coastalwindsports.com

The Prism isn't a lifty kite even if you do go 4 line. It will serve you well for learnibg but to do it right you will need a different kite down the road.

Learn to fly the kite blind, loops, downloops + recovering from mistakes before jumping. Your prism is well suited for that stuff!

Most of all have fun and be safe!
