Best high wind kite (besides 9m Phantom)
Title says it all
Looking for a good high wind kite. Lots of lift, reasonable cost. I was thinking about a 10m Scorpion, but was told they aren't nearly as good as the
larger sizes. I could settle for a 10m Venom or VII, but I just want some input.

I really like the idea of a Pulse. It looks to me that I'd get a bit more range out of a 10m Pulse 2. I don't need a kite to take out in nuking
winds... just something for the mid 20s - 30s. (MPH)

I use a 10 Venom 1 and a 8 Venom 1 for my gusty mountain winds here in Colorado, only problem is it takes 15mph to get anything out of either one but
from there on up to 30(my limit) its all good.

We don't get 30+ mph wind, that's the problem.
And if we do, it's 30 mph gusting to 2346246324. Thus the need for a small kite. I like to ride the storm wind.
I ride my 13m Venom up until about 28 mph. I'll take another Venom, but me thinks it's not lifty enough.
EDIT: I should mention that I'm around 56 kg.

I have a 13mtr Scorpion in pristine condition that I would turn loose of and it will definitely rock your world in the wind your talking about, plenty
of lift and the bonus, float.

I'm on a bit of a budget, but the new job is working out very well. I should have racked up a pretty good amount of dough by this summer. Charger may
be the answer. I'm also seriously looking to a 2008 9m Waroo? It just looks to me like a super fun kite for high wind days.
@g-force
I already have a 13m kite goober. Scorp is higher AR, so I'd probably get an
extra like 5 mph or so out of it... Still, I'm thinking I need a kite more in the 10m range. Thank you for the offer! I'm curious to know how it
performs compared to the 16? I've heard that the smaller Scorps are a bit of a pain, and are very twitchy.

I think on the smaller Scorpions it's a bit of a coin toss on for some of the various issues. I have a 10 and 16 and the 10 has had a few times that
needed that coaxing to inflate but once inflated - no problems at all. As the kite got more air time and stretching the inflation issues dropped - in
fact it's the one kite I have kept as one of my NABX rides and I've had it take me up to 60mph in the buggy (not wind speed). Now a couple of the 13's
I've found twitchier to inflate and lot's of blown launches on our gusty winter wind days. Then another friends goes up like a dream. I think a bit of
breaking in on the Scorpions improves performance but not a kite that I feel I can take and hand to first time arc flier as easily as some other
models of twinskins.

Very good explanation, Markite. Adam told me that the 16 performs best because it's the one that is most like flying a mattress of air. The others are
difficult to inflate and lose air quickly, and aren't as thick as the 16.
9m Waroo, 10m Charger/Synergy is sounding really good right about now

10m V1 or V2 will get the job done on high wind days. 8m Venom on 40+ days.
Equivilent Syn and Charger sizes as well.
I've been using the CH 10m for my high wind kite but I'm really impressed at the wind range on the 8m.

Feyd, are the Chargers/Synergy's more lifty than the Venoms? I know the Venom has a higher AR, but it seems to me that I can't get the lift out of
mine that I'd like.

I agree with aj, 6m phantom, but not around 50mph of wind. Remember, double the wind speed results in four times the energy. Can't imagine four
times the pull compared to 25mph.
I would not want to fly a charger at least for the buggy. On the water it would be fine.

technique and kite speed play an important part. One day on the beach we had a Vortex, Venom 2 and Scorpion of similar sizes and V2 had a little more
boost and longer float than the Vortex - the Scorpion had more vertical boost but not quite as much float. The Synergys then came along and they have
really nice float to them and because they turned a bit quicker than the V2 you could redirect it carrying a little more speed and get that little bit
more boost. Now the Chargers - faster again, I haven't had the chance to do as much jumping this winter but on the water i had some great days with a
12 and 15. Different wind and wave conditions for the more outstanding days, the 12 having good height because it's was a really windy day with some
nice waves set up.
The faster you can get the kite to fly and if you feel the pressure build with the bar out, redirect hard and pull in no doubt about it you'll go.

I have a 10m pulse that I'm really not using. I flew it about 5 times last year, it just overlaps with my other kites too much which always seems to
be out their bags a lot. U2U me if interested.
