New Grill
I've been on a solar cooking spree lately.. but somtimes the sun is just hiding behind the clouds. So on those days.. ya need a real grill. So here
is my new one....
I may like fried turkeys... but rotisserie Turkey might be on the 2011 Dead Bird menu. Here's todays test chicken....
A few steaks with some zucchini.
Oh yeah... add a slab of ribs...
And ya have to love kite chicks and the clothes they wear...
See ya on the beach...

Oooh.. this sounds like a beach party.
Better yet, with all your new shop toys.... you could help me weld some wheels onto it. I'm thinking the harbor frieght/northern tools large
casters. Would make it easier to move and more versatile.

Sure... did some great red beans and rice the other day in the solar oven. Adouille sausage and all... Was sooo good and no energy used.
The chicken was cooked wtih some of the last of the wood from Hurrican Ike. Finally down to a handdful of logs.

Every few years at my house we have a huge party and slow roast a whole pig in a huge pit (the way it should be done!). You should definitely stop by
:D
LOL. You should have seen the look on the vegan wackos' faces as we wheeled the skinned pig carcass through the soy supplement isles at Whole Foods.
It's to die for,

Steve we cook most of our meals in the winter on our wood stove that heats the house. A 10 Quart cast iron dutch oven and all the ingrediants. Whole
roaster chickens, cod, shrimp, all the vegies. Like using a crock pot but no plug-in! Heat the house and the food at the same time.

17 posts in, and nobody has asked what kind of grill it is? I'll bite... what kind of grill is that?
Have any of you tried one of those 'big green eggs'? I have Weber grill and a Weber smoker, but keep eyeballing those big green eggs for some reason.
Part of me thinks they are a hyped up fad, and that I should just get a standard 'Weber' charcoal grill.
I've done a bunch of turkeys in my smoker. Chickens and ribs area always crowd favorites.
Anyway - nice grill. Give us some details man!

@Trp- The big green egg is awesome- i bought a medium used a couple of years ago and liked it so much that i bought a large about a year later.
Having been a weber guy for about 10 yrs i can tell you that NOTHING can slow cook/smoke as good as an egg. I can fit 3 pork butts on it (about
30lbs) and slow cook it for 20 hrs at 225 and dont even have to watch it. I think it is impossible to dry out a chicken (we do a lot of whole beercan
style chicken) I have had company over who say they dont eat the breast meat cause its to dry and then they try it off the egg and are blown away how
moist and delicious it is. For regular grilling ie hamburgers or steaks ie high heat- it is better but not worth the extra money. If you cook it
longer then 45 minutes- it is the best.

Nice! That's a good looking grill, and it looks like it could almost be used as a fire pit.
I've been on the lookout for a used Big Green Egg for a while. If you don't mind me asking - what did you pay, used, for yours? (feel free to u2u me
if you'd like.)
Is it grillin season yet?!

trp- sent a u2u but if anybody else is curious, i found my medium egg on craigslist and bought it sight unseen for $300- literally 10 minutes after it
posted (got really lucky) when i went and picked it up lady said she had over 50 calls in the first hour before she pulled it off craigslist. As for
the large i bought it was more. But i dont think there is a better
smoker/grill available and i am hoping to bring some pork bbq to the wildwood bash in april to share, so make it to NJ and sample for yourself- i make
a dryrub style so you can taste the meat and its tenderness without all that nasty sauce to hide pure excellence
