Liquid Force Proof for beginner?

Wanna try the water this summer, but don't want to invest alot of money in an expensive board incase I don't like it. Would a cheap board such as the Liquid Force Proof be sufficient to start with? I certainly would need a large board since I'm 220 lbs.

Thats what I learned on. It is great for board starts and learning to edge. You will outgrow it at the point where you are able to stay upwind. The rocker on that board will limit your ability to stay upwind unless you are light for the board (you are not. just like me) or extremely well powered.

Proof will work but limited.....................looking at your quiv you need something with less rocker and concave for your arcs................140x43 with ABS rails, slight rocker, flat bottom...............this will get you up early and plaining.............the 154 or 159 Spleene Doors are the ultimate learning board that will become your lightwind board..................I can stay upwind on my Door/13m Ovando in 10 kts....................

Spleene doors seem really hard to come by used, to say the least. It's like trying to find someone to sell there first born. How do the Litewave wings compare? I see more of these in the lightly used market then I do spleenes.

The Proof has a lot of rocker. You'll have an easier time with a flatter and wider board.

I like rocker :D Depends on your conditions...

You should be able to pick up a used proof pretty cheap, since there are so many of them around. If you do get a proof, like most people, you will likely not want it after a year or two. There are other board options that you'd keep as a lightwind board. But imho, the best board choice is what works well in your areas conditions not one specific board.
