Homemade Buggy Help!
Hey all,
I 'm new at this forum , so i'll introduce myself , My name is Nick, and I am from Holland. Studying at HTS werktuigbouwkunde(engineering) at
groningen.
I'd like to build my own buggy , but I need some measurements.
For example I want to make a Swan neck in my buggy , but i need the Diametre of the Bigfoot wheels, to get enough clearance between both.
My plan is to build the buggy from aluminium and heat treat the whole frame(I can do that at my school) to get it stronger.
Anyone who can help me with the size of those wheels?
Thanks in advice!
Nick

I just this week completed my second aluminum buggy , you can see pics of one in the gallery second page at the bottom. For the back axel I used an
aerodynamic airplane wing strut , if its the right material for your project you might like it. ( Aircraft Spruce and Specialty)

Nice , i will take a look.
My plan is to make some sort of suspension so i can buggy at my home, right over the farmlands. and a solid axle to go to the beach.
Just finished making my swan neck in Solid works, and calculated the stresses with Running a simulation.

With springy aluminum and soft wide tires you may not even need a suspension , either way you will need ground clearance or a skid plate or both.
Have fun , welcome to the forum.

the problem w/ rear suspension is the buggy leans toward the kite when powered up.

suspension is only for in the countrylands, and it is removable.
the alu is not springy any more after it's heat treated

if ya build it bombproof it doesn't flex that much. I have built several alloy buggies and they are not heat treated. One is 5yrs old now and is in
perfect shape structurally. It has been thrown around and flipped at speed several times, not even bent! Here is one of them w/ an alloy tandem
