Ambush Worrier land board.

Any one ever hear of this board? I just stopped into my favorite shop. OK it's a pawn shop. We have money issues right? So I saw this board on the wall. And it has been there for some time now. And with the lessons being offered at WBB I said ok. I talked them down $20.00 and bought it. Seems in good shape board is springy. I jumped on it and it didn't break. I'm abute 200lbs.
So did I buy a crapper on a whim or is this an ok brand?

google turns up a post here on PKF as first result-

"It was an entry level board w/ 8" wheels and skate trucks. They rated it up to 190 lbs. MBS replaced it with the Atom 95X. "

Yeah, it's MBS, one of the top brands, just an old board, entry-level. You're close to max weight on it, but I'm certain you'll get more than $20 out of it!

This was on his wall for almost a year. And he kept moving it closer and closer to (what he calls the) the corner of death!!
Guys I didn't pay $20.00 I talked him down $20.00, I payed $75.00 I guess I could upgrade the board if we are to heavey for it. The Kidd and I are about the same wieght.
I have no plans to jump with it just ride. Or more likely just fall :spin:

Ambush Warrior (looking at the old MBS site) was made from 2003-2005. Depending on the exact year, the weight rating varied from 180lbs to 200lb (earlier was actually more robust... or less conservative, anyway).

In either case, I expect their is a margin of safety built. I don't expect the bolts spontaneously combust at 1xx lbs. For cruising you are probably fine. I expect the trucks will give out before the deck,

STP (and they discount deeply) has them on clearance for $99 (original retail was $219.95) plus shipping, so $75 is still a savings.

ATB,
Sam

Wow, $20 is a steal! That's the board I learned on and it's great for learning/small jumps. I recently upgraded to a Pro90, but I kept my Ambush around friends to ride on. I weigh ~155 and was pulling jumps on it, but I do feel way more confident jumping bigger on my Pro90.

If you need new/stiffer bushings, standard skateboard truck bushings work just fine. I switched mine out to some stiffer Shorty's bushings after I bought it.

Ambush Warrior

rocfighter, the Ambush boards are light and reasonably durable. It sounds like you got a fair price, MBS is quality gear. While it's not a deck that's designed for big drops or massive jumps, it should hold up well for downhill carving and kite cruising. Did it come with a brake installed?

I just grabbed two boards for a total investment of $160, an MBS Core 90 and MBS Atom 80x with a brake (for my little guy to learn on). They are the 2009 models, but both were new and still in the original packaging so... like you, I can't pass up a deal. I'm so addicted!
