Tire Wear at NABX
Now that the NABX gang is back I was wondering if the playa is as abrasive as many have said. Did anyone actually wear out their tires? CSA Deadon
was packing some heavy duty rubber and I also wonder how well that worked for him.
Thanks for the info,
Chris

I wore out the front tire on a brand new set of 4 ply ribbed barrows in about 70 miles total on my Ivanpah buggy. The back tires were about half worn
out. Turns out that 2 of the plys are the ribs and then the tire carcass are the other 2 including the threads which were showing on my front tire.
I have slicks on the Hero and the Apexx with sets to replace them with. I won't buy more ribbed tires unless I move somewhere with a different
surface. A lighter duty buggy won't be as hard on tires because of less weight and less ability to edge upwind I'm guessing.

We didn't get near the winds of the last few years so tire wear was not quite as bad. If the winds would have been up we would have seen a lot more
wear. Still, a couple people were able to go through a set or two during the weekend.

Was that your buggy? It doesn't count if Arie was burning off tires for you. LOL.
Winds were light this time around so I came with too many tires. At least they will be around for next year.
